pvtjace 37 Posted September 26, 2012 (edited) Hey fellas, Just thought I would mention straight up, I have searched the forum for answers to my question and have come up contredicting answers or havent found what ive been looking for.Question: How long does loot take to spawn inside an area where it generally spawns? Does all the loot have to disapear including, empty cans etc for it to respawn?Question: When spawning in how far away do you have to be to have loot spawn?Question: When driving or hovering into an area, how far should a vehical be parked away before you get out to check for loot?( Iv had no loot appear over 1hr of searching i assume as of my car being my transport to the places )If you could answer them or offer any tips etc that would be great!(EDIT: On public hive servers please. )Cheers! Inception. 9443 Posted September 26, 2012 (edited) You have to be at least 30 meters away and within 200 meters for it to spawn.EDIT: Sorry, I may have misled you. This applies to vehicles, but as Kenobi said below, as long as you enter the 200m radius on foot the loot will spawn. mibz0r 141 Posted September 26, 2012 As long as you enter the 200m radius on foot the loot should spawn almost immediately, I like getting out of the vehicle at 190m and standing for a minute to check the area before driving to the building I want to raid. As for the loot having to disappear I couldn't answer for sure.If no loot spawns when you enter the 200m radius on foot and walk all the way to the building then you may need to relog or find another server.
pvtjace 37 Posted September 26, 2012 what about changing the loot that is current, do you have to remove all the loot from the area to have a new set respawn? Thanks as well for the first radius information :)
Inception. 9443 Posted September 26, 2012 what about changing the loot that is current, do you have to remove all the loot from the area to have a new set respawn? Thanks as well for the first radius information :)Yes, you need to drop it at least 10 meters away from the loot spot. You then have to wait outside the loot spot [30 meters again] for a little bit of time, and then it should respawn something different. This technique is known as 'loot farming'. It is time consuming if you want constant good results, but is a good way to acquire gear without having to travel across the map. Also, server restarts change the loot, but I think you already know that.

Jex =TE= (DayZ) 218 Posted September 26, 2012 There's a great post explaining how the zombies and loot spawn somewhere. The timer is 10 minutes.

mibz0r 141 Posted September 26, 2012 Perfect idea! Thanks, Iv heard that some of the Mods on here dont think its a problem. Thanks for your help guys! Some players have a big problem with this method but I say that it's a lot better than duping and done correctly will benefit the next player to enter the building not just you ;)
