SVD NSPU. Hacked?

Hey all,

So I get killed by a hacker (I unloaded 5 AS50 rounds into him, before I magically die without getting hit) and was running back to my corpse in the hope of reclaiming some of my items. I stumble across two dead survivors and one of them has the attached sniper on them - SVD NSPU (SVD with night vision).

I grab some of their other loot (higher end stuff - NVG, RangeFinder, GPS etc) and head for the nearest tree to log out. I have ZERO intentions of using a hacked gun, and I am fairly sure this is but if I can just get confirmation from someone that it is or isn't I will dispose of it ASAP.

Yup. You should throw away the Rangefinder, GPS, and NVGs too since you got them off someone tainted by hacks. In fact you should never pick up any of the above unless you find them yourself in a barracks or at a heli crash.

Now if it was something like an AS50-TWS thermal sniper rifle, i'd say get rid of it. That gun is game-breaking, i've been on the receiving end of it before.

But a regular night-vision sniper rifle? Keep it, guns like that exist in-game.

I am aware the answer was probably hacked, but I only just started paying again after a month or so away so I was unsure if they had added any new guns

You're allowed to use it straight from battle eye but some butt hurt admins might ban you from their servers. Remember there's thousands of other servers to play on ;]

no thanks. ill get rid of a gun if i find out its not supposed to be in the game at all, but if i find legit items on a dead body im using them.

Anything carried by someone with a hacked item is suspect, and if you're striving for consistency it should be destroyed along with everything else until you find something yourself. That's ridiculous though.

I have nothing against G36's, M4 ACOG's and similar weapons, they are not in the mod, but they are no more powerfull than the regular counterparts M4 CCO's and stuff.

That's why I have M40A3 in my backpack, it is no better than M24, SVD Camo or DMR, but it is awesome. :)

As for AS50 TWS, yea, that is quite gamebreaking and far too powerfull.

I opted to ditch the Sniper, but kept the rest of the gear. I've looted NVG and Rangefinders plenty of times before off dead bodies, so I don't feel like I'm giving myself an unfair advantage in doing so, whereas with the gun I felt I was.

Just so happens that I know the location of a camp which tends to have some decent rifles in it, so I'll try sneak in there later and hope to find something good

Other than the obviously hacked gun, you have to be kidding. I could see a boy scout disposing of the gear in this case, a clear hacker/scripter but to never take NVG, RF, GPS from your kills is frankly... dumb.

Is there a distinction though? If hacked gear is the proverbial line in the sand, why is duped gear any different. Sure you didn't dupe it but you can virtually guarantee that if it's not spawned in it's been duped.

Yea... maybe for a bush wookie in a ghillie on the Stary north hill.

But since I'm playing in my hero skin I can be considered a moving target practice, camo is irrelevant.

I have 3 SVD's Camo in my camp but i don't really like them, although they have far superior built in rangefinders, I took my time with the game and learned the mil-dot mechanics to range the target using mildots.

I kept the M40 because it's my favorite sniper.
