Why don't people put tents on top of map?

On the Y cord [0-0.9] can't be see by hackers.... how do i know this.... they use the same map as dayzdb map which doesn't show that part of map.

I flew my helicopter across that entire region of map & saw zero tents?

Is this just on this particular server or do tents despawn in this region?

that is all valid but if you have any vehicle, it's all fine & i've found tents right next to the borderline which has got me wondering why they don't move it another 200m & it'll be undectable..

rumors say stuff beyond the borderline gets wiped upon server restart, thus why you won't find anything there...

That area was the place for tent cities to be a while back it became so well known it was no longer any use due to all the lone wolves out there hunting the tents down. Saying that you can still normally find a vehicle or 2 and some tents up there.

I set mine up pretty far north and never had it raided. I got mine hidden in such that right spot that you have to come from just the right direction to see them. I think most people just don't like spending forever to go all the way north then down to Elektro. I know that when I had my tents set up I only raided areas around the NE Airfield.

There are settings now for admins that allow wiping of the out of map areas, so players and clans can't hide their bases and vehicles! Some servers have it some don't.

I was a camp destroyer, walking the length or the outside border was a great day out looking for camps to loot and destroy, but they got sick of hiding stuff on the end of the map and being robbed so they hid their camps further inland.

It is one hell of a run, especially when you consider how many times you are likely to die on a public server to hackers it just seems like the effort outwieghs the reward. I was running to Zeleno from Elektro yesterday and I gave up at Green Mountain and logged off to play a different map, forest running gets very old and I am fairly certain a scripter found my bicycle (I was in forest above Elektro and bike was hidden inside of a tree surrounded by other trees meaning it was next to impossible to see, I knew where it was and walked by it once had to have been ESP hack). I used to keep camps on the edge of the map near the Ural spawn, but the run became insane. You could do the Western edge of the map as well and not have such a long run from a Kamenka spawn, but scripters are not really something to worry about when it comes to tents since they can just make a magic box appear.

scripters don't need to find your tents, they can wipe the entire server of all the tents with the right script, much the same as telporting & dropping players from the sky. They don't need your loot anyway because most of them can spawn pretty much anything they want.

I used to have a tent up north that went over a month with out being raided, but in the end I got tired of running that far to gear up when I died. Added to this it made me want to stay near my tent which caused me to not get as much PVP due to the area.

Now I usually just play cherno champion and typically just run with what ever guns & gear I can find on the fly or loot off someone I kill. The zombie survival part of this game is pointless until the script kiddies are put in check, so I just focus on PVP now and really a tent way up north is useless for that.

Yeah every server is different.. Some I've found camps back to back around the edge and others wont have a single tent near the edge.

And by the way, I managed to hide my tent near the water pond east Cherno. It was there for 4 days with food, .45 ammo, a Lee-Enfield, a CZ 550 and an AKM. Nothing was stolen. (I got killed the last day)

No matter where you place a tent, it will eventually get discovered, either because the hinding spot isn't as original as you thought or because someone as original as you decides to place a tent near your's.

Now, I'm sharing this because I don't really use this site anymore, but the best campsite I personally have ever had, was near Polona. Right next to Dubina there is this patch of trees right in the open around here http://dayzdb.com/map#6.108.068 (Not the one in down the hill along the road, but in that sort of U Shaped clearing) My friends and I had a few tents there for weeks, and we eventually stopped going on the server, and it was still there when we came back.

Well most people make the mistake of placing tents next to marked spots. e.g. X direction/bearing from a fixed point in game (y), such as dear stand, house etc.

They do that so when they die they can find it easily enough again with just a compass.

I went a chose a different option. Face x from y and continue for certain time, and change to x bearing and continue. it insures that my camp is a bit safer then most. Although like all tents/camps none are safe there is still a chance of some one finding it by chance but its held place there for a few months.

No matter where you put it there are going to be hackers to find them. No point putting it right up the top of the map, particularly above Petrovska. Better off putting in near NEAF (Like black lake) or near NWAF. I don't bother with tents. Even in the latest patch my tents are regularly emptied. I figure its hackers if the tents are supposed to be saving gear now. I wouldn't be surprised. Ive had tents completely empty in the space of an hour where I went on a loot run to NWAF to return to an empty tent.... no server resets or anything, just an empty tent.

Like I said it depends on the server. A few days ago I met some random and we teamed up to raid the North from Misty Peak to the East edge of the map. We found over 30 tents with medium to high tier loot.

The corners of the map probably have tents in them, but they're probably also abandoned because they're such obvious places to raid or server hop too. You might get lucky but we found 30 tents in the NE corner alone, all abandoned, and that matches with my experience on other servers. The only rough pattern I have found is that camps are most usually amongst pine trees (duh) and typically north of a water source. When that far north water is as scarce as it gets in DayZ and unless you have a vehicle you will be sprinting a lot and will need to drink regularly. North of Petrovka, Pobeda Dam, Black/Willow Lake and to a lesser extent Skalka are good places to search in the North.

Use the wiki map instead of DayZDB. I've noticed most online maps are cropped on the West or North for some mysterious reason.

Ive run into a few of these here too. I used to place tents up there. I honestly think quite a few of them are hacker/exploiter/cheater tents. Scrap that, I know alot are because Ive seen 50+ tents cities with multiple chopers, duplicated bodies and enough weapons and ammo to keep me stocked in DayZ for eternity. Possibly just a case of not abandoned, but can't access them because the owner has been banned.
