Gravelsack 3 Posted June 14, 2012 So, even though bandit skins have been removed from the game, are bandits still being tracked? Can a person still get 'bandit' status for killing other players, even though it's not displayed? If the answer is yes, then currently only 31,017 players out of 170,749 are bandits...that's only 1 in 5 players who are bandits. Is that right?
thejoshknight 7 Posted June 14, 2012 20% being bandits is far higher than the realistic amount of sociopaths in real life, ie 3-4 %, but hey, what are you going to do.

Jorden 63 Posted June 14, 2012 Survivors are just bandits that have gotten off the coast.False.I have yet to murder another player "just becuz I can XDXD".At one point, I even found a Ural and acted as a taxi for some people.Shit, being friendly and helping others is much more fun than wasting blood and ammo because "oooooh, I'm scared! He wants my beans!"
Horror 0 Posted June 14, 2012 Bandits are just survivors that have gotten over the guilt? It remains a crap argument. The fact that it's a game defies any "its real though" sentiments. Its a simulation. More to the point, its a specific, non-friendly simulation. On the internet, every rule is meant to be tested, bent, broken, and buried by anyone, given the circumstances of mechanics that allow for open play. If there are no rules, expect no easy compliance to any established social contract or standard. Claim society is dead, its gone to hell... then sow the wind... and reap the whirlwind. We are all, in the end, when without standards or genuine humanity, devices of the mechanic and what it imposes upon us. Some may try to adhere to "what is right" while others claim "don't punish any style of play with gimmicks". Enjoy the apocalypse of no consequences. 1/5 bandits is unreal, unsupported, and pure supposition that end times would generate such numbers.

Nice try, but you're just gonna have to pry that m14 from my cold, dead fingers after you kill me in a proper, stand-up fight. :P

My post was mostly sarcastic, cynical, and to be honest? I'm glad you disagreed with it and made something beautiful out of it. I think Thomas Paine said it best:“Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigues of supporting it.”Without support, DayZ has no true freedom. We say we want freedom, but fail to treat and support this freedom with the reasoning it deserves...oh hey another good quote:“Attempting to debate with a person who has abandoned reason is like giving medicine to the dead.”― Thomas PaineSo the question is this: What do we, as a community, plan to do about the abusive level of bandits? The game itself is against us, it has no means of telling us who is a Bandit unless they are in a clan, but that only makes the victory sweeter. What should we do, then, with the random bandits? In reality, they would not last long, so we have to hunt down and annihilate them, constantly. Do not show them mercy, for you will be shown none.Gosh dangit, get that spotlight off me, making me feel emotional and patriotic and crap! >.>
