"No pvp" server

Recommended Posts

I'm dissappointed how some people are so aggressively shooting this idea down. New ideas introduced through experiments are completely fine and should be accepted, even if the main idea of the game is PvP, the idea of things that are not the main elements/ideas of the game should be encouraged and brought upon for suggestions and interest value. Some people have interests while some don't.

Some people will abide by such long list of rules much like DarkRP Servers for Garry's Mod, because of this I can see it being highly successful for people trying to find a newer experience for DayZ and getting away from the standard DayZ experience. It's a shame some people are not so open minded on the idea and instantly claim that the mod is purely based on PvP and should stay that way. While as the mod in general I agree, but other servers are free to try their own ideas.

I think it needs to be said that RP servers (imo) do not mean no pvp servers.

RP servers with bandits and kidnapping and robbing and "negative" player interaction is fine and I could easily see that as being tons of fun.

However standard dayZ with a "pve" only stance is taking a unicorn and cutting off the horn to make it into a horse.

I don't think it's fair to blame the players on a server marked "no pvp". It might not be their server. The admin can't stop people joining the server and killing other people and you can bet your last dollar that you were killed by a PvPer who ignores such localized "rules" and entered the server anyway.

And what about in passworded private hive servers?..

The idea just doesn't work. I've come to the conclusion that the internet is just 90% pimple-faced virgins that have to 'troll' to gain a sense of self-worth.

Great discussion.

I think that if a server has rules, they should be followed. If the server rule is anything goes - then anything goes. If it's no PvP - then it's no PvP. But expecting that on the internet is a pipe dream.

My intent was to warn noobs that these "no PvP servers" could also be called "Suicide servers" as someone has already suggested.

Anybody experience this? ... Your character is killed by a hacker, a no PvP pimple-face, or fairly & squarly by a REAL DayZ player. There is the initial and intense disappointment/anger/frustration. Then comes the feeling that you've learned something. Then there is that sense of real excitement knowing you'll spawn again to a completely new DayZ experience. And this time. I'm going to ....

DayZ is the most fascinating sim I've ever played. I'm hooked.

If we should meet in Chernarus - I'm de Lusan and I'm probably bloody and without a weapon..

no-pvp servers are not dayz.

Even if that is true and I would never like PvP to be removed from DayZ as that'd totally defeat the purpose of it being so intensely awesome, I STILL gotta say it would be fun to actually have a "no pvp" server and for ONCE actually try to do some of those ideas we all probably have, without someone shooting everyone.. Like building huge camps, you know to kinda "beta test" how much the game can handle - building a small community or a "safe zone" if you will. Fixing and collecting multiple vehicles and eventually have a huge convoy to elektro or cherno, where we could all go and try to rack up as much zombie kills we can, with more bullets in the vehicles where we could gear up from, without someone stealing the vehicle(s) in the first few minutes.

Even that would have a competitive edge to it, as we could compete who gets the most zeds ;)

I mean, yeah, DayZ is awesome and all, but to be honest, it's getting a bit boring just as it is - as the amount of PvP "gear up, gun people until you die"-players is so high the people who'd want "their story" to be a bit different can't really pursue their endgame or what they'd like to try out.

I mean the whole "DayZ - this is your story" makes you think of all the possibilities, yet only one playstyle overwhelms through ALL servers. Even the ones where people are requesting no pvp, it seems... So many servers to do pvp on and not a single one can be a bit more "friendly" oriented? Shame.. as the idea of humans sticking together to build something bigger has been around for a looooooong time, yet I haven't yet really seen any epic videos of such behaviour.

Fropes community events were awesome though :D ATV races, huge heli battles, etc. I guess I gotta try attend the next one to get something bit more different for a change.. as now it's just me running around, gearing up, surviving totally on my own, looking for friends to do something with and dying every time I meet another player, when instead of shooting him, I try to meet up :P

And what do I get if I shoot everyone I see? Gear I don't even need, as I already have everything I want... And the doubt of "what if I just killed a guy who had been surviving for DAYS and was friendly... did I just ruin his day? :P" lol. I just have hard time being an ass towards everyone, I guess.

So... all I'm saying; The game could use a little less PvP... and it's not the only thing you can do in DayZ, at least imo.

No pvp servers? Seriously?

So sad to come back after a break and see garbage like this.

What's the point? Zombies are a joke.

I get killed by zombies in minecraft more than dayz.

Seriously do yourself a favor and play another game if you don't enjoy the human aspect of dayz.

And this pisses me off. Why call it garbage? Do you really consider your playstyle to be the one and only right one? If DayZ is often referred to minecraft and even rocket, the creator is going for a COMMUNITY EXPERIENCE not a deathmatch, why do you still insist there is no other way of playing? And you're crying out loud for someone wanting ONE (1!) PvP server? There's only what, 10000 servers for your playstyle and one no pvp test area server for fun would be garbage? Hmh.

RP - Roleplay servers make me laugh. HAHA

if you're going to play in no pvp you might aswell not play.

The butthurt in this one.

THIS IS WHAT I THINK OF THOSE SERVERS

http://i.imgur.com/ysErQ.png

You all could've easily been without posting at all in the first place, as the only thing you're doing, again, is trying to piss people off, not being constructive in any way.

Just like the people who deliberately find rules to go against, then tell everyone their friendly and then shoot them in the back with a trollface.

You see, some of us just don't enjoy being a-holes like you. And I personally am 100% sick of playing on servers bloated with people like this. The only kick they get out of the game is finding the way of killing that piss people off the most. The cheapest shots, camping on n00bs or deliberately getting close as friendly when you're high geared and shooting you in the back or something. At least I figure these are exactly the people who'd get this upset about an idea of no pvp server (or a server that would require you to at least communicate before blowing someone's brains out), as they can't get their fun out of the game in ANY OTHER WAY than ruining the fun of others.

The amount of days it takes to legitly get all the best gear by raiding different places and gearing up... it's absolutely RIDICULOUS. And it sure as hell doesn't pay off, when it's often gone in an blink of an eye, without explanation, without reason... just because someone wanted some target practice, sitting on sniper hill.

This only encourages non-legit playing or banditry, as it's 100% idiotic right now to try and raid all the best gear individually during half a month of playing when a bandit can recklessly run at you claiming they're friendly and shoot you with a lee enfield, making all that for nothing.

A little effing respect would go a long way, and I'd like to find a server like that, that's all. Where you'd at least need to be in range to make contact and start shit so the other guy knows shit's going down. Or AT LEAST not lying you're friendly... as I've come pretty close of having fun in this game and I know the fun is there. But every time I get totally shat on by either a hacker or a trollish player who's only out to ruin people's experiences.

I, personally, just don't want to shoot everyone on sight, as that is the most monotonous and boring way of playing I could come up with. Even helping or making friends is more challenging these days to be honest...

But yeah the game is forcing me to shoot on sight. And if that's the case, I'll just stop playing, as I know of alot better deathmatch games. And I think so do you. I'm in this for the community and something a bit bigger, tbh. But seems the community is filled with people who start mouthing off negative critique even when a discussion of possible different playstyles sparks up. Great. :P

And ofcourse, PVP IS NEEDED, but does it have to be so damn trollish? :P

And no I'm not "butthurt", I'm just frustrated.

Sorry if I'm out of line.

I like to join ''No PVP'' servers with side chat enabled, pretend I'm friendly and then shoot them in the back of the head.

If that makes me a ''Pimply-faced teenager'' then so be it, I think it's hilarious when someone trusts a complete stranger, and then turn their back on them, and then complain they got shot in the back, beans always taste better with tears.

The amount of days it takes to legitly get all the best gear by raiding different places and gearing up...

Are you squidding me? It takes about an hour to run all the way up to the NW airfield and get military grade weapons, if you spend an entire day playing the game and not get shot to death you've pretty much had enough time to obtain everything in the game, it's why dayz isn't anything other than a PVP game mode with zombies added in to make you think about your shots, because honestly what else are you going to do when you're basically geared up to all hell and no longer need to even go into towns to survive? Walk around the woods for hours and kill animals/fill canteens?

You're just the type of player I absolutely hate. Right now wondering should I even bother giving you an answer, as I kinda feel giving an answer is a bit too generous to someone who's only fun is the total opposite of kindness.

So the only thing you can come up with doing in the game is grabbing what you can and killing the least threatening, least challenging people who don't even fire back at you, since you join a "no pvp" server to hunt them.

What a hero you are.

Keep in mind, that I do not leave behind a trail of corpses or steal what others have looted. Most equipment considered best equip has less than a 0.2% chance of spawning, and you talk about ONE trip to NW airfield? Curious.

Clearly we have a different opinion about fun, so I think this arguement won't really get us anywhere.

But yes, I do play the game with some immersion. Yes, I did take the "Survive" objective seriously and didn't run and gun down noobies until I die on every respawn and repeated it until I got bored and had to resort to cheap trolling to get some kicks... My characters have all lasted for multiple IRL days.

Sure, that probably means nothing to you, but at least I'm not the one having to join a "no pvp" server to pvp.

Kinda funny, actually. I've never shot a player, yet I've never been on a "no pvp" server.

Oh well. At least I'm glad I haven't pissed off a single DayZ player, as I actually hope to draw MORE players to the game, not piss them off from playing one by one.

I have never been a stickler for the rules, if rules were not meant to be broken then we wouldn't have any new maps or private servers. These have helped the community, contributed to a better player experience, good yah?

Let me get this straight, you've never been a stickler for rules but you advocate servers where they impose extra rules banning PVP...fascinating. Scrolling down from your post and it seems these no PVP servers have way more complicated rules than legitimate regular DayZ servers. The ironing is delicious.

Thanks for the recommendation, but I cannot do anything with it:

"DayZ RP Private Servers Sorry but you cannot register at this time because the administrator has disabled new account registrations."

Worked fine for me. Also be sure to read the rules to get the password for the thread that has the actual server password :D lol

I guess I'm going to try it out, even though I'll be pretty prepared to have my face shot off the first minute I see someone ;)

Well if you read all the rules word for word, sure, it's alot of words. But what every single rule on that list is basically saying is; Play fair, don't be an ass/troll and don't kill without reason.

Not really that complicated to follow, unless deliberately ignored. :)

Now off to watch your youtube vidz; Satchel Charge Shenanigans sound entertaining :D

Thought I'd try a little less stressful DayZ experience the other day. Connected to a "No PvP" (US 1542) server ... didn't take long for someone to shoot me. I play DayZ 95% of the time on PvP servers, but for a REALLY nasty experience try playing on one of these "No PvP" servers. I'm assuming these guys are pimply-faced teenagers with no way to get their kicks from a social life because they don't have one. Perhaps, they just can't compete on a level playing field. They might even be guys that want to be hackers, but don't have the brains to figure out how to do it ... which would put them at least one level below being a hacker.

How are these guys reported to the server administrator? How do you even contact a server administrator? How do you even know who shot you? The problem seems insurmountable.

All in all, if you're new to DayZ - my advice is to stick to the "regular" PvP servers ... at least you know what you're dealing with. If you run across a server that claims to be No PvP - know that someone with a child-like smile on his pimply face will be shooting at you.

For all you guys out there that have popped me fairly and squarely on the PvP servers ... nice work! It's great fun playing with you and I hope to return the favor soon.

My best to all the True Dayz players!

Really...are you shitting me right now? Without PvP DayZ would be one of the most boring games out there. If you are really bitching because someone killed you on a "no PvP server" you should really just stop playing this game.

Seriously, why can people not play as they want? And isn't that the point of testing the alpha?? Isn't it interesting that a game can produce many play styles and why shouldn't that be celebrated?

It's a very small world view by some here: my way or the highway
