Get it if you just can't wait to play. Stand alone will be locked down better then the Mod. No we'll have to pay for DayZ the SA. Most of us will gladly pay for no other reason than to support Rocket and team. I'd say wait if your prone to whining about hackers, glitches, or balance tho.

as far as i know u wont get the standalone for free as u only bought arma2/oa and installed a mod and didnt bought dayz as a game itself

I'd say buy the game, but only if you're interested in Arma and the Arma side of things along with what DayZ is offering, because you may find that it doesn't appeal to your liking.

I'm only interested in DayZ. Arma is a great war simulator but I'm interested in the zombie apocalypse simulator mod.

Well to be honest here DayZ isn't the only Zombie mod for Arma 2! Plus their are so many great mods out there.

http://www.armaholic.com/ Always a great place to start looking for another mod. I've heard good things about Chernarus Apocalypse Although to be honest I been pretty much just rocking DayZ and Arma2 atm.

Also you can check around by going to Google. :D The sheer number of mods for this game is staggering.

It's not a compromise, Buy it now and be prepared to pay for the standalone when it comes out. You will miss out on so much if you wait till then.

Arma 2 is a great game as stated and there is a bigger community working at it all the time.

No we already playing probably wont get it for free but it's worth buying trust me in a few weeks I've learnt heaps that I would have taken so long in the standalone it's better if you know what your doing and can get right into right away instead of messing with learning the basics. So don't be cheap pay the $30

We will still be able to play. He is going to open it up (the mod) so the community can mod the mod. Should be interesting to see what comes of it. He actually already has to think of it, look at the maps that have come out since the announcement of the SA.

I made my decision. I will wait for WarZ and DayZ standalone. I will get both of them.

Well the hacker problem will always be a problem for DayZ the mod. (as with any game really) The stand alone will hopefully curb the rampant abuse tho. But with the mod open like that is gives the admins of servers more options on how to police their servers.
