Am I just unlucky or something up with my DayZ?

Hi, i am just trying to figure some things out. I have been playing since May... but my loot is Shocking!!!! I dont understand. in 5 months of playing, I havent found half of what people seem to find. I mean whole of the August I managed to survive. and just looked around and been pretty much everywhere on the map and nothing!! in my whole time as Survivour the most extreme weapon I found was M4 SD. that was once. and ONCE i found an M16+ACOG.

And yet, i see some n00bs spawn and 5 minutes later find M107... 10 minutes after that they have NVG's and Range finder. etc etc. I know that barracks are THE place to look for that kinda stuff and also Tents at Stary Sobor. but all I ever find are AKM's.

I only today (5 months after) found out that there is SVD on this game. I have never seen IT or Ammo for it. I find M240 or M249 mags ALL the time.. but NEVER even seen the gun. I also find m203's but no weapon to fire them from?

and when I find crashed Helo... there are just FN FAL's millions of them! and none of this mega mazing loot that other seems to find.

To be perfectly honest I feel like a little kid who got left without a cake. :(

They probably have tents with it. And loot is easy to find, just look for helicrash's. You aren't unlucky, you just aren't looking hard enough.

Perhaps it's server specific?

Are you playing on one server?

Also try to be the first at the crashed heli's. They spawn often around sobor.

... you know, duping, dead bodys in elek, duping + tend, that is where you have do look,in same time,5 mounths a find a little more than you, (and fn fal is a ultimate assalt weapon it is good), in air field you only find some sos members(player who do not use duped items and bugs etc) and bandits camping rsrs,in heli i only find one m240 and two as50 1 nvg, in 5 mounths too

Jams thats true. and I have good a good gear now, I survived most september so far. but its all looted from someone else. I never actually "found" it. even things like "backpack" I had never found on the floor, i just looted it of someones tent. I just want to actually find something that wiki says its just "rare" or "common" because at the moment wiki's "common" is my "rare"

I concur. The hacked weapons circulate. If you're willing to risk Cherno or Elektro, you can find tons of dead bodies with all sorts of hacked in weapons and other fun goodies. Just make sure you immediately log out and return to whatever cave you're hiding in that allows you to survive so long. Really!? All of August survival! You one lucky sob.

And don't worry. You are like one of the last fifty of us playing this game legit. You don't suck, it's just that you aren't cheating. It took me some time to come to reality with the cheating (seems hard to believe so many people are so dishonest, I'm naive I suppose). But yes, those noobs with nvg's and thermol scopes and ghillies are indeed cheating.

Rocket's initial concept of the game is exactly what you're experiencing. If you are aren't cheating or looting from a cheater, that stuff is really rare!

do what some players do. Go on low populated servers, get goood gear and go on to the highly-pop ones

funny, i thought the same thing and as i usually play using the female skin, i wondered myself if the girl character isn't getting as much stuff as the guys. when i did happen to use the male character i got lots of stuff. maybe it does depend and especially how you search. then again, i must say i was lucky to get a bus the second time i played dayz. i guess keep looking and i've heard you have to wait outside areas for items to spawn.

You are doing something wrong then.

I hate scripters, dupers etc..

Still I manage to find good weapons.

You have to take a risk sometimes and go to sniperarea's, but the smartest thing you can do is: fix a vehicle. Right after a server restart (some restart 3 times a day) go up to stary/novy sobor and try to find a crashed chopper.

The so called rare shit is almost everytime over there. The only weapons I don't find that much are mk mod, fal with infrared and svd camo.

I find good stuff in militairy buildings too, but if you want to be sure these are the locations to go.

Firestations are always a good spot too.

Because everybody knows this you have to take a risk though.

i found a svd cammo in at the fire house at the nw air field. I have been alive the entire month of September up North. a few days ago i was in the eastern barracks at the NW air field and i found a silenced g36c... i left it due to reading a while back it was a hacked in weapon. The only shit i have never come across are range finders, as50, and the Bizon.

bizon's and as50's are often spawned at heli crashes. Look good under/in the chopper because that is the place where the bizon's mostly are hidden.

rangefinders and nightvisions are indeed hard to find, sometimes the zombies around the chopper wear them on their body,

It took me 5 days (and a 4 man squad) to get my initial "high-end" set-up. Add a week to get my last one, and lastly add a long time before I got my current.

I am usually lucky, I guess, although I did not think so before reading your post. I have been gearing up since my last death...last Friday. I have been wanting to replace my AKS Kobra and have been searching every possible spawn spot since. As it happens, this morning I found 2 of them. I suppose one needs to be persistent and needs to have a bit of lady luck on your side.

I have been playing on a private hive and find gearing up to be a bigger mission than on the public hive, where I usually find tents with loot.
