Strange encounter

this took place on DayZ Takistan.

I was on top of a hill behind a rock. all of a sudden a vehicle(I think a military hummer) shoots out from the top of the hill and crashes about 20m in front of me. I can see the player get out of the flipped vehicle and then the vehicle disappears, so now I start to unload at him with my m14. the guy falls to the ground but no kill message so I proceed to shoot at him some more. the bullets were definitely hitting him as I can see blood pour out of his body. moments later the body disappears. and then I hear gunshots. BAM I'm dead.

What the flip just happened?
