First Day

Recommended Posts

First life ever loading up, joined a low populated server with a friend.

We managed to scavenge up supplies and a couple weapons. Plenty of food, blood, and tools.

we had a map and a plan to extract a friend spawned way too far away, then we headed out.

Leaving elektro my buddy spotted on the map that someone else was off in the distance.

I pulled out my binoculars that we had found only ten minutes before and scanned the power plant. sure enough i spotted a rifleman looking towards us.

We got down, watched him for a moment. I knew he had spotted us so i told my friend to run for the tree line. Once he was in the trees i watched as the rifleman climbed down from the tower and headed towards us. I crawled out into some tall grass on a hill and watched him sneak his way around a zombie and head towards the tree line.

My friend began flanking as i continued watching him. He was climbing the hill side scanning the horizon for us. To my astonishment he walked directly under the hill i was laying on. My buddy warned as he came close and i continued to watch him walk towards me without actually aiming at me.

Again to my astonishment he stopped a mere 6 meters away in the crass, kneeling in the opposite direction. I arose from my grassy knoll aimed my 1911 at his skull, and blew him away with 3 swift shots.

We rejoiced knowing that we had fooled our assailant and took our bountiful harvest. A nice Ak and 1911 for my friend. Alice pack, plenty of food and ammo and we headed off for our friend.

We ran for about an hour and a half to meet up with a friend, we then armed him and headed off towards an airstrip. A sneaky zombie broke a friends leg and after the first shot rang out we had about 50 zombies on our hands.

Needless to say i ran in a circle for about 10 minutes with anywhere from 20 to 40 depending on where i ran right on my heels.

Somehow only one of us dies during this whole ordeal. We manage to shake off the horde of zombies with our hatchets and strategies.

Then we decide to venture into Cherno....

While in the supermarket, the whole things explodes and collapses, were inside not damaged but freaking out... I step outside and the whole place returns to normal.... Then 3 swift shots are placed into my head.

My first life lasted for around 4 1/2 hours.

This game can become extremely intense in a matter of seconds.... i love it!

I loved it once until the hackers started infesting the game. I'll give you a week before you realise how bad the hacking is.

Way to be negative, New players will figure that out for themselves, but, I have only had 2 hacking encounters and as Dallas said low pop servers don't get hackers as much and are great for team play. With the private servers out there now with admin who monitor and the soon to be released standalone the hackers days are numbered.

Welcome to DayZ T-Pag you did better than a lot of other players inc myself on a first go. Enjoy the DayZ universe.

Having friends with you in the first place is a big advantage and probably the best way to get past the learning curve for beginners in this game.

I was not so lucky when I started. It went somewhat like this: "Ok, I think I see some buildings over there" ..."OH BEJEBUS! ZOMBIES! RUNNING THROUGH THE FOREST NOW! OH MY GOD THERE'S A PILE OF BODIES! Ok just keep running, just keep running, just keep ru-oh, there's a town, and I can hear gunfire. Sweet other survivors!"

Oh, I was so naive back then.

Reading your post got me charged up to go in for another round of Zombie bashing.

That's awesome! For the first time ever being swarmed like that.... it was intense. We had no idea where they were coming from, when we shot the first one it was one of 3 visible ones and a huge field.

I'm glad everyone liked the story.

The crazy thing is i have had the arma free version in the past but never had heard of DayZ.

My friend told me about it a week ago and i started watching a ton of youtube videos. Watched people troll, run into hackers, lure zombies/players... Pretty much saw everyone's different strategies.

Once i fixed the CMOS issues i was having i downloaded it and now im totally addicted.

Having a friend definitely helps. We arent 100% hostile so if your in game and can follow a few simple commands well make sure we can part ways without breaking each others legs...

I do believe i ran into some hacks though. As i don't know how the supermarket can turn to rubble.... and then go back to normal....

All in all i had a lot of fun and im excited to start hunting the noob trollers.

Happy Hunting!

Edit: I also have a strong computer and fraps. If anyone would like to team up, make some dual view videos just send me a PM. Unfortunately i do not have a PC mic yet.

Ran into my first hacker today. I was playing on a small server and was lucky enough to pick one where there was a hacker. Was crawling across a street when bullets came from the sky and rocked me.

Would of sucked but it was a fresh life so i wasnt really dissapointed.

You probably just got sniped. The sniper rifles in this game have an effective range beyond even your visible range. If you're in Cherno, Elektro, Starry Sobor, or an airstrip/airfield, even if there are only 1-2 unknowns on the server with you, you have to assume there in the perfect sniping spot with an AS50 ready to kill you when you stop moving.

That or they were on a nearby rooftop with a rifle or something.

Yes... I totally agree with this statement. The hackers have ruined this game... not to mention the general lack of regard for survivors actually trying to survive.

Yep... and this is the kind of bs that ruins the game for many, especially noobs trying to have some fun.

Except that it's totally legitimate and understandable in a survival scenario. Some will scavenge, others will kill for supplies, protection, or just fun, because well, the world is ending. People will be hostile, it's to be expected. Can't deal with it? Then it's not a game for you.
