Stuttering every 30 seconds

Recommended Posts

This happened about a week and a half or so ago when i updated from a version I don't remember and from then on to the latest version as of today.

every 30 seconds, my game stutters / pauses from around 2-5 seconds. It used to run fine but it doesn't now and its only with DayZ on a DayZ server.

Its pretty much made the mod unplayable and i haven't played it much since then and it's even gotten me killed while playing with friends which is when I decided it wasn't worth playing until I can fix it.

The game runs perfectly fine for me and it ran fine before. I'm only running DayZ and I'm running in combined ops with BAF and PMC installed. I have no mods in my addons although i do have ACE and ACRE fully installed but my friends with the same addons and mod folders / mods have no problems

At this point I'm not sure why its doing this and I've tried just about everything I can think of but it's still fubar.

pls help

What video card do you have?

What drivers are you using?

It's usually a Nvidia drivers problem, you have to change a single optino in the advanced options in the drivers.

2nd most common cause is an overclocked CPU that still has Turboboost features enabled.

i have an ati hd5750, i actually haven't updater drivers within the last month.

my cpu isn't overclocked and i haven't touched it so thats out.

i'm gonna try updating drivers but im not sure that'll do anything either, because the problem seems to be something with dayz because it only happens in it

To be more specific:

Dwarden, one of Rocket's coworkers and also a BIS employee, suggests turning off TurboBoost in your Bios.

The other option Dwarden suggests is this:

try adding this to your Arma2:CO shortcut: -exThreads=1

The 5750 is a marginal card to play Arma2.

In CCC, in Gaming, IN 3d Application Settings,

Make sure you turn off Anti-Alias , Anisotropic and anything else you can live without.

yeah i've never touched any of the 3d application settings for any game

or anything in the CCC really, as i said, arma 2 runs fine normally but with dayz it runs smooth for 30 seconds, pauses for about like 5 seconds completely, and then repeats

when it pauses, if no ones near me and the ai is only shown for me, they pause with me.

if im with other players they will keep moving and so does AI, and they even see me just like stop.

edit:

nope, still stuttering

if this helps it happens on all servers too

Okay start with this; vsync off shadows off post procces off.

Still lag after that? Then turn anti-A off and antro filtering off.

Still doexnt work? Turn all the grapic settings like terrain and texture to low.

Still doesnt work? Then buy a new gpu, 6850 is only 100€ and will improve greatly

its not a graphical problem, i've already tried. the game runs fine for me and has nothing to do with my performance

its only on dayz, and its EXACTLY every 30 seconds, that it'll stutter.

1. now dayz gets stuck on waiting for server response

2. it didn't change the stuttering because it does it at the menu while on server response

still only on dayz.

It's the debug monitor

In 1.6 there is an option to turn debug monitor off.

I will push the update forward to the next one, and that should fix the stuttering for you.

Guest Dwarden

i definitely don't suggsest use of -exThreads=1 ,

1. it's obsolete tweak for some old build

2. it's tweak meant for servers if there are issues

I get stuttering to but its more like every 5 mins or so, it varies though get it every now and then, its a bit annoying. But controls still respond I noticed, when I freeze and keep walking forward i will have moved forward.. so if it happens when zombies on your ass DON'T STOP! Take your time with the next patch rocket *not sarcasm* everyone loves your mod : D

Yesterday and today I've joined several servers with stuttering problems, but mine come more like every 2-3 seconds and game freezes from like half a second or so. Really annoying. However, yesterday night when I joined FI2-server when it started to go dark ingame I didn't get any stutters. Really an oddball. I'll report back if I get rid of stutters tonight (ingame) again.

I am now encountering a similar issue to this. I stutter every 2 seconds exactly. It is only on DayZ servers. Normal ARMA does not stutter. I did not have this issue until a few days ago. Anyone else encountering this or have a fix?

Hi, germanaagun. I have exactly the same problem, just by searching "arma 2 stuck every seconds" at google and found this thread.

So, im cool at resolving problems (like wolf, from pulp fiction), and lets see what we have.

First - i dont have this mod.

Second - Me too runing A2CO:BAF:PMC. Mods are used to run: @401;@ace;@acex;@acex_ru;@acex_sm;@acex_usnavy;@acre;@cba;@cba_a2;@cba_oa;@cwr2;@jayarma2lib;@utg;@utg-islands;expansion;x\caa1;x\oac\oac_core;

Specs of my dell studio XPS notebook are (Please check if you have same BIOS and version, same Wifi Intel Link 5300 AGN (its really important), same processor i7 and sure the Video Card - Radeon:

(you can download AIDA64 to check that)

Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium

OS Service Pack Service Pack 1

CPU Type Mobile QuadCore Intel Core i7-720QM, 2250 MHz (17 x 132)

System Memory 3188 MB (DDR3-1333 DDR3 SDRAM)

DIMM1: Nanya NT2GC64B8HC0NS-CG 2 GB DDR3-1333 DDR3 SDRAM (8-8-8-22 @ 609 MHz) (7-7-7-20 @ 533 MHz) (6-6-6-17 @ 457 MHz)

DIMM3: Nanya NT2GC64B8HC0NS-CG 2 GB DDR3-1333 DDR3 SDRAM (8-8-8-22 @ 609 MHz) (7-7-7-20 @ 533 MHz) (6-6-6-17 @ 457 MHz)

BIOS Type Phoenix (04/01/11)

Video Adapter ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670 (1024 MB)

Disk Drive TOSHIBA MK5056GSYF ATA Device (500 GB, 7200 RPM, SATA-II)

Network Adapter Intel® WiFi Link 5300 AGN (192.168.1.102)

DMI BIOS Version A13

Next is BIOS setup. Do you have Hyperthreading active? (I have, and i know that may cause problems in performance, but i dont have an option to disable it in notebook's BIOS. Also there's some options in BIOS called Virtualization and Intel SpeedStep - enabled/disabled?

Arma startup parameters:

i have: nosplash, world-empty and cpu-count-4 (this is not exthreads parameter)

Arma 2 graphic options:

Every setup i tried - same results. Sometimes its work stable and sometimes its stuck every 5 seconds. Memory, textures, AA is always off, Anisotrope and vsynch is really no matter - got the same lags.

P.S. - except for that lag, my fps is always around ~60. And every 5 seconds it becomes extremely low and back to 60fps again.

What comes next? :P (fear and loathing in l.a.)
