WTF - No PVP Servers?

Recommended Posts

This made me think of a point I'd like to elaborate on a bit more. It was briefly touched earlier on, but I feel it desires more attention.

From what I can tell here, most of us who are alright with the non-PVP aspect of the game are that way because of the kill on sight (or COD-style) mentality. Personally, if I felt that I had a CHANCE of seeing someone and NOT getting killed instantly, I'd go and try to make friendly. Perhaps offer some beans, or a transfusion. Problem is, because of the majority of players holding a KoS mentality, it forces us friendly players into one of three groups:

  1. Conforming the the general public's "KOS" mentality and/or becoming a bandit like everyone else
  2. Spend more time dead and on loading screens than time alive since you won't kill someone who does you no harm
  3. Move to low-pop, no-pop, or no-PVP servers to lower the chances of getting murdered while taking a bathroom break while hidden in a tree

This is the pattern I've seen. Most of these "friendly" players will start off as friendly, but after a few days of being killed by literally every single person they encounter, they will adapt, and go with the flow of banditry. The select few that don't are either those casual carebears who will absolutely not kill anyone, and those (like me) who simply choose to lower the chances of running into someone in order to play how they want to play.

At least you realize why some of us have switched style to keep the game fun. I spent over a month lone wolfing on low pop servers and trying not to kill people, had some fun but it got a little old after awhile. Switched to grouping up with friends and playing as a friendly group trying to help survivors (offering rides and low tier gear to fresh spawns). We avoided cherno though from experience but still lost far too many vehicles to players and had a few frustrating murders from those we helped, so we started bandit hunting but kept trying to help those who were not threatening. Once again was frustrated by dick moves we lowered our threshold for engaging in PVP and eventually became more hostile to the point of banditry (minus newb sniping though).

The nothing to do argument isn't 100% true, it just turns out that the mechanics make it hard to trust anyone effectively giving you no real incentive to expend energy being friendly. Our group still plays friendly on Chernarus servers, but have gone full bandit (once again minus new spawn sniping) on lingor servers.

TL;DR Many of us have turned into feral dogs, most started out normal but devolved into sociopaths (in game).

Just a sec....how does this affect you? You still got 300 other servers to play on....

WTF is the problem?

They host the server, they host a private hive...hence they can make the rules for their server.

exactly.. if you dont like the playset rules, then move on..

why is it PVP players think they should be able to dictate how EVERYONE plays ???

guess what theres plenty of players and servers around to support an entire myriad of playstyles you might not like or understand.

and thats ok, just play somewere that suits you..

So I noticed several private servers now have "No PVP" and "Bandits will be Banned" rules.

All I can say is: WTF. It's not DayZ without PVP. How much of a lame ass scrub do you have to be to make rules that no one can PK in your server? What exactly is the point or challenge to running around looting and collecting high powered military grade guns when apparently the only things you can shoot are zombies and rabbits?

I mean, by all means make your own rules on private serves but don't expect any respect if you want to water down the game.

Wow are you mad bro?
