I took a break from playing for a while for the reason in the topic title; I know there was a while where they were quite annoying. Wanting to just see if it's safe enough to log-in without much hassle and instant destruction.

There are still hackers, you are safer on low pop servers, but there isn't as much action. It is up to you whether you want to risk the time.
