I can completely avoid hackers, heres how, but you may not like it

Install the Single player or COOP version of the game. Both are working up to 1.7.2.5. Its hard to get a hold of them because they aren't supported by Rocket and hes asked people not to provide them anymore, but they are out there. COOP requires you to run a server from your home PC, there are tutorials on how to do that. I call it "COOP" because you can password the game server and just play with friends, but your PC wont be able to support alot of people.

TBH Ive been doing this and its not bad. You will notice how little development the game has though and it becomes brutally obvious how much Rocket is relying on PvP to be the major component of the game. Just putting it out there though. I know alot of casual players left because they were sick of hackers, but if you want to enjoy this game without them they are options.

You live in Utah. There are two things to do in Utah, be Mormon and leave. Of course you've adapted to a non-conducive environment.

The whole point of the dayz experience is that there is no law, and there's a lot of new people you encounter, that are unpredictable; that's what makes this game so interesting.

If you play alone with friends on a passworded server, you might as well collect stamps, because that's all you and your friends will do.

Single player ? Really ? That would be around 5 minutes of shooting zeds on the firestation roof before turning the game off, uninstaling it and chewing the disk into mush.

TBH ive been playing it a bit. Its alot more "boring" than multiplayer, I won't dispute that. But at least I don't feel like I can play fun for 3 hours and work towards goals only to have them taken away by a hacker with a simple injection of a script. I actually enjoy it more in the current situation. Come standalone, if they do something about hacking then yeah Ill only play in PvP servers. But at present I have a real life and I feel like any effort I put into playing the game would be a waste of my time in a public server because of the hackers. And my time means alot to me.
