Increased use of Armaversum in DayZ Standalone

Recommended Posts

What I propose is this: At present, we are not seeing much of the Armaversum in DayZ. We see the CDF (formerly-artifacting dead soldiers) and we see the citizens of Chernarus. What I propose is simple. More assets from the Armaversum be used in DayZ. For example, let's not forget that in 2009, not long before the events of DayZ, Chernarus was plagued with Chedaki insurgents. What if some of their camps remain around Chernarus, guarded by the now undead insurgents? (Thinking of the Helicopter Crash Site system here, but more plentiful.) Also, did the newly appointed NTA (New Takistani Army) provide any assistance? What about Russia? The United States? Chernarus was close, whether geographically or politically, to all these countries.

Perhaps some security contracting operations were taking place in Chernarus just before the outbreak, whether to guard celebrities or political figures?

Just my two cents, feel free to support or rebut. :D

Personally, I'm not a fan of the Armaversum.

I'd prefer DayZ to be set as ambiguously present day as is possible. DayZ isn't about the story, its about the story of the players themselves.

(but I do work at a place where the Armaversum is rather important :P)

While there does need to be a fleshing out of the lore in Day Z, I don't think the Arma universe is where we should be looking. I think it should be fairly independent and grounded in it's own lore.

Except it's based in the Armaverse, and the game is owned by BIS now.

Hence why the above was me rendering my opinion, not stating the official position of BIS...
