Why do people put tents in tents ?

Recommended Posts

All you are doing is making it easy for people who find your tent. Generally we run around and do not have a tent on us, come across a little stash of tents, and there is a tent or two inside. Sweet, take a tent and set up a camp and then we can take what we need without having to shuffle gear like mad or run to a shop that may be miles away and hope for a tent spawn. Came across four last night, l85, dmr, m4a1 cco, stanags, bloodbags, morph, food, drink, toolbox and 2 spare tents. Sweet. Saves us having to run to the hospitals to get extra bloodbags and morph as well. Plus we geared up my partner who is now our overwatch with the dmr, left her ak kob with ammo and some pasta as recompense.

Leaving tents in tents is like leaving a sign at your camp that says ' take it all, i have provided storage ! ' if they did not have the extra tents it would have forced us to change what we doing in that session, do we jsust take what we need right now or do we run to get a tent and get some back up supplies ? Also would have increased our danger by possibly running into the tent owners if we came back to grab bloodbags or whatever later on.

So yeah we stole some stuff and i know some people get all riled up about it ( griefing) but seriously, leaving tents in tents is leaving yourself totally open to losing the lot if someone wishes to take all of yo shit.

enjoy the pasta.

um so your not supposed to put any item that may or may not provide storage aka backpacks in tents for later use?? wow its not like say you want to move camp to a more secure but don't want to find new tents you just take said tents in tents and use them?

yes, because if you take something out of a tent it won't be back there at next server restart.

let's be honest, tents are the failsafe of never loosing your stuff until the server is wiped.

Most likely to dupe tents and you need duped tents to store all that duped gear. I recently found a tent with 30 tents in it.

Like has already been stated, it's because they're relying upon restarts to refill the tent and provide them with more free tents to expand their tent city.

But, I don't really understand how you say it makes looting tent cities easier. I'd imagine if you're out and about where tents are being placed that you already have a tent camp yourself, no? If so, what does getting more tents do for you to make looting their tents easier? Are you just running 1km way and using it to setup a temporary waypoint between your actual tents and their tents so you spend as little time as possible there? That's still a lot of back'n'forth to ferry items. I guess I just don't understand what getting a tent from them gains you if you're just going to put the tent down near their tents anyway. Like I said, you should probably already have your own tents by then. It sounds like I'm just missing something obvious. Care to share? ;)

I personally don't really care if people have tents in tents or not, as I'm usually rolling by in a vehicle and just load 'er up directly to ferry it back to my camp.

A guy goes to a psychiatrist. "Doc, I keep having these alternating recurring dreams. First I'm a teepee; then I'm a wigwam; then I'm a teepee; then I'm a wigwam. It's driving me crazy.

What's wrong with me?"

The doctor replies: "It's very simple. You're two tents."

that's what I was wondering. it's not like you can put everything in the tent and take it with you

one time I stole someone's ural. it was full of goodies, including a tent. I hid it somewhere else, but was worried it would still be easy to find (it's a big blue truck). so I took out one of the tents, put it far away, and made a couple trips with the better stuff. anyway the story has a crappy ending, cause after all that, the server just disappeared a few nights later

but yeah, it doesn't seem like tent in a tent helps you that much. you'll still have to make multiple (risky) trips back and forth

Maybe they found a tent and didn't need it yet, so they stashed it in one of their existing tents, where they store their legitimately obtained gear for future use. It's possible that they had something in mind other than getting robbed when they set up that tent. What's the matter with you that you get angry when people don't structure their stockpiles to make your life more difficult? Do you feel like they aren't taking you seriously? Do you feel like they don't have enough respect for random dudes who will come and take their stuff? Are they making you feel like your style of play is not sufficiently acknowledged by the community at large?

I don't see why you're so busted up about this. It's convenient, it's good, you got some rare items from a guy and didn't have to face danger. WHy complain about it on the forums?

We have our base camp at Skalisty (surprise surprise) with everything to get a heli going plus usual hospital items. Because we generally have shit luck getting a vehicle, besides bicycles, we do a lot of running. Chernarus marathon champion ;) Our other hang spot is around the top half of the map and since we only just ventured up after 1.7.2.6 and did not have a tent on us..voila , now we have two small supply spots up North West and North East while we try and hunt down where the Heli has been hidden.

@ Rupert... :D

Woahh..woaaaah back nellie :) Just a general topic dude. Did you feel anger in my post ? Should not have come across like that but forums are not exactly the best place to get across a face to face conversation . More a bemused posting if anything . Playstyle is playstyle and you can do it how you want.. and even generate a discussion/debate about it on a forum.

The putting packs in tents thing.

Can I put a full pack inside my tent?

If so, does it count as one pack or does it count as one pack plus all the items inside?

You can do this. The items inside don't "count" towards the tent limit. HOWEVER, the contents DO NOT SAVE and you better extract the contents before the server restarts next. Once the server restarts, it will return as an empty bag.

So, yes, TEMPORARILY you can store a pack + items. But it won't save the items inside for server restarts.

In previous patches i have put a loaded pack in and lost the lot except the pack. Not willing to try yet until i see someone confirm they have done it :) I also would like to know if does work, does it count as one pack or one pack plus items for tent slots ?

edit: answered above :)

It counts as 1 backpack, no matter how many items you put in it beforehand.

If the standalone gets better inventory metrics, I hope it'll become possible to have loaded packs in other storage containers, so I can have my food/drink/medicine bag for normal play, my SD/smoke/empty space bag for barracks raids, and my flares/chemlights/space bag for night raids. Having a "starter kit", like an ALICE pack with a rifle, ammo, supplies and tools that I can have in the back of my truck to give to newbs I recruit would be handy too.
