I'm not sure if anyone has made a post like this, the only thing I found when searching were flame wars over perma-death..

The other day I got in a discussion with someone about weapons. After a while it turned to a sort of apocalyptic convo. We were talking about people looting other people because they think shit's going down, then those looters run into people who have guns, and those people with guns start to utilize them.. So on and so forth

Anyways, that convo made me question. Ever wander how Chernarus came to what it is now? We know that Chernarus has been engulfed by a zombie outbreak, but what was it like before?

The idea I propose is a sort of 'Sim' for the start of Chernarus. It would start off just as we do now; we spawn somewhere along the land. Whenever a save is started, you could possibly spawn anywhere in Chernarus (not just limited to the coast) and will be any random personality or character of that area. Upon the world starting, one individual (or small group) besides you is selected to begin the infection. You will not know where this person is; they could be your next door neighbor or across Chernarus. Having said this, here are the main attributes that IMHO would do well:

-No debug monitor. The amount of infected is random, and if you choose to travel, you might just stumble upon a city of the dead (it may help to add a low difficulty setting with a debug monitor, telling you how many infected roam the world at any given time, optional)

-Looters, Bandits and Heroes. What you choose to be is up to you, but the people surrounding you might not be so sound. This can possibly include people who will shoot on site, be edgy, or be willing to help out another survivor (if you choose to take the help :P)

-Dialogue. Whenever you are confronted or confront someone, your words can help you for the better or worse.

-Partners. Whether it be in crime or in salvation, you can (with all the right words) become a friend of someone and either ravage the land or look for others in need. Your partners will also show signs of hunger, thirst, or beginning of an infection. An infected character in your group could quite possibly infect the others. You can direct these people into stealth or a 'guns blazing' act, a cross country travel, or a loot run (many more options are a possibility)

-End game (debating) So far I haven't really come to any conclusion of how it would end, it would probably be more of a record setting playthrough. The game wouldn't end once everyone else is infected though, for this would make the game quite interesting.

-Wider variety of medications. It is possible to run into crazy people, or people who are beginning to turn. There could be something like an antidote or cure, and medications for mental illnesses.

-Random resistance. As the infection spreads, the farmers, the military, and the everyday pedestrians will take out their rifles and fight back against the dead. The outcome is completely random.

-Wider variety of zombies. Some zombies can be a pistol shot to the leg, and others and be a buckshot to the chest. The strength/speed/vitality of all zombies can vary, would make for interesting zombie encounters, instead of the usual boring 'Dome = Dead'

Attempting to expand list. Taking suggestions. Please do tell me if something feels right or wrong (something might have an unsensible outcome)

Hope you guys support, I didn't just post this because it was a scenario I thought of in 3 minutes :P

To be totally honest, I don't see the fun in playing this game singleplayer. The uniqueness of DayZ is that you have to be 100% alert at all times to stay alive, once you become familiar with zombie mechanics, they are no longer a threat. If you take out the only remaining threat then what is there left to do?
