Water Still Deletes All My Gear! [Video]

So I was playing the other day and then me and some friends decide to go and look for a chopper on Skalitsy Island, but then suddenly half way across almost all our gear gets deleted. Including my NV Goggles that I was wearing.

Does anyone know why this happened or has it happened to you recently?

I guess some servers have 'gear-dropping while swimming' on and some have it off?

It's a server setting now. There is really no way to know whether a server has it on or off, other than trial and error of course.

i literally spent ALL DAY getting heli parts to swim to that island, only to have everything deleted by swimming there around midnight and i said fuck this and went to bed. Still haven't successfully transported all the necessary parts for the heli to that island :( i hated DayZ that day. fucking HATED it. Its been a few weeks since then, and i still dabble every day in it haha. Its a love hate relationship, this game and I.

What is the setting to effect this on the server? And in which file does it go? Also is it on (yes delete gear in water) or off (no don't delete gear in water) by default?
