Development Road Map?

If there were ever a time to grab the attention of Bohemia, I think it would be now. You've already proven you can generate revenue for them off something as simple as a proof-of-concept alpha mod, for a game that's well past it's prime in todays standards. I think Kickstarter is a decent back-up plan, but let's face it, to do it right, you need BI's support/engine/etc, but I totally agree with the stance of waiting for the right deal to come along, it would be tragic to see this mod changed into some L4D style moneygrab

Rocket. You have made my idea of a perfect video game concept come true. I've ran the idea of a zombie survival game in my head for years....I just knew I would never get the time to learn to code such a concept. Thanks man...I look forward to whatever you/ we make of this. I'm currently on a military training mission in Hawaii....and i can't wait to get back home and log into dayZ and start surviving. Counting down the days. It's killing me

I'd like to thank you for not letting my brain sleep last night.

Woke up with a massive headache!

i wholeheartedly agree with the gentleman who suggested you keep the community opinions out of this. Just seeing all these PVE threads - ugh. It's like we should all be playing a third person shooter with ID/range finder on mouseover. SOUNDS A LOT LIKE ALL POINTS BULLETIN TO ME.

honestly, the reason why this game has me and my brother addicted is the sandbox nature of the game. theres no mission objectives, no fed ex quests. the DayZ experience is made by the players themselves. all the game needs is some more limited resources to make conflict inevitable. in other words, more sandboxy stuff. just give us a world rich with tools that enable players to change the world and it keeps the spirit of player driven experience alive. like, forts, i dunno. fuck premade factions, that shit should be player made. and FUCK npcs and quests.

On the subject of skills/development, I think this mod (and Arma in general) has enough of a learning curve to not need a skills/points system. The fact that you need to scrounge/kill for everything is more than enough, and is more true to the game concept/gameplay style than spending points creating a character. Imagine servers where half the sideline chat was stuff like "Lg grp in chrno LF healer". As it is now, if a group wants to designate roles, they can by sorting gear between themselves.

On a similar note, I think you should keep things in the game implicit, and avoid having documented objectives. The seemingly-by-chance discovery of the radio was an amazing addition that not only sparked incredible debate (and showed off some of the community's more esoteric skills), but was a huge addition to the overall atmosphere of the game. It's a great item that could be used (maybe later) for communications with a team, or that could lead to finding our what happened in the DayZ world. Imagine looting a town and finding scraps of newspapers, bulletins even love letters and piecing information together like a backstory, or even a hidden family cache outside town! It leads to much more organic gameplay than having a list of objectives, and gives the player the option to act whether they want to or not.

Also I definitely agree with Aaron: you've shown the viability of this idea, get Bohemia's attention!
