A rifle isn't "on ur back" necessarily. In fact all the time I had a rifle it was slung across my front and I could bring it to bare in a second (SA80 as u civvies would call it) had a nifty strap on it which would let it hang from your chest and was also great for steadying the weapon in a standing position.
