Clash420 0 Posted June 12, 2012 Hello, I want to play DAYZ but I have the issue of not having arma II or arrowhead. So I was wondering if for 30 dollars(combo pack on steam) is worth it? I want to be able to roam the the world of DAYZ with other people but my buddies are console guys and are too lazy to install mods :/. I would love it(if i decide to buy it) if some people would let me join them on their quest to survive, whether it be a clan, crew or whatever they are called on this game. lol you can tell im a noob. No fanboy comments give me your real opinion of the game, if you think the community will stay alive and if the game will be continued to be patched.
esaciar 1 Posted June 12, 2012 It is well worth the investment. The potential of this mod is remarkable and, if focus upon the community remains, it could be immeasurably successful. It is still rough around the edges, but at its core this game is rip roaringly fun, addictive and immersive. You can, and will, lose yourself in this world on several occasions. And I'd welcome your company in the world as well.
Letten 1 Posted June 12, 2012 The community is great here. All my friend here I met in the servers, so don't worry if at first you'll be a lone wolf. Most people starts out that way. And yest it IS worth it. Besides you are not just buying 1 game, you get two! Arma and DayZ :D.
Clash420 0 Posted June 12, 2012 Is there a friend system?
esaciar 1 Posted June 12, 2012 Not at this current time, not ingame at least. Although rumour has it that the developers are looking to enhance that facet of the experience sooner rather than later. There are 3rd party systems, such as Steam, TeamSpeak and the like that enhance that side of things.Like I say though, plans are allegedly in the pipeline. dallas 5195 Posted June 12, 2012 If you love it, it'll be worth the 30 bucks. If you don't, it wont.Anyways it's bulky, buggy, frustrating and an allround terrible experience. You wont regret it.
Clash420 0 Posted June 12, 2012 Anyone else? im still in the middle on whether or not I should get this game.
mtuckner 46 Posted June 12, 2012 With your display of indecision I have come to the conclusion that you should not get it. You don't have the balls to survive in DayZ.
esaciar 1 Posted June 12, 2012 Balls get you nowhere. Balls get you shot in the face. It's forethought that wins out.
Virfortis 111 Posted June 12, 2012 DayZ, in its current form, is not worth the investment.First, it's in an Alpha stage where things are very buggy and lack any real direction. There's no end-game content or re-playability because it's still being ironed out on the technical level. Perhaps later in the year there will be more, and I'm waiting patiently, but right now is not that time.Second, the community has yet to mature. We have yet to weed out the more undesirable parts of the community and many players play it as just any other FPS. Until we push forward and make a stand against this "Disregard thought, shoot players!" system, it will continue to degrade. Of course, we also lack point #1, so it's pointless to push for anything at the moment.Third, $30 is a lot to front for a mod, and you may (big maybe) get attatched to the mod. This is NOT a good idea, as it will soon undergo some large changes that is likely to split the community down the middle (you know, content and stuff for players to do besides deathmatching, which is all "carebear fluff" to some). So, no I do not think DayZ is worth the investment right now. In the future? Maybe. I certainly see Steam having a large sale on it at the end of the year, so I recommend waiting until them. I certainly HOPE it's worth the investment later on, but ultimately only time will tell.

Clash420 0 Posted June 12, 2012 Seeing that there is a good possibility that I will like Arma 2 and arrowhead cause I love shooters I have decided to buy it. I love the idea that you never know whats around the corner and after watching these DAYZ episodes on youtube9 http(://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpisVPveIkc&feature=plcp) of the guys adventures I think I will love it. Changes don't bother too much either, I like to come to a game early in development so I can can play it in all its forms. Please creators of this mod, I ask of you don't make my decision a bad one and not keep this mod up to date and running!
