Where does everyone hang out at?

I've been playing this game for 3 days now for a few hours per day and I have YET to encounter a single player within the game. I've been reading the forums quite a bit I see plenty of posts with people bitching about other players killing them and whatnot, or how if you light up a flare you'll instantly be shot at. I've tried several times to make contact with another human including running around with a flare lit. So where are the spots that most players hang out around waiting for prey?

North West and North East airfields, Stray Sobar, Electro, Cherno, Bolota, Berezino, any of the castles.

These are all good places to find people....people who will likely shoot at you :P

You've been very lucky. I would love to go three days without seeing another person. A vast majority of people will kill you on sight.

If you're on the coast and the server has more than 10 people on it, then you're not looking hard enough :P

Seriously, it's as difficult to spot players at a distance as it is in real life.

Go to any major city at night, throw a flare, stand in flare, wait for friends to appear. Being seriously though, where you are on map, the time of day and how full the server is are all factors into how likely human encounters will be. Join a 40+ server and hang out at the beach or a costal town, your going to find people. If you head inland, play late at night on low population servers you can go upto a week without seeing anyone.

Bolota is definitely a common place. I made the mistake of trying a run at it (at night) after hours of good scavenging with my friend last night, right before we were going to head to the woods and log off. We both found AKMs, and then I immediately got 1 shot from god knows where. If I ever get myself a long range rifle, I'm going to overwatch that place for hours and take out any aggressors I see. Getting really tired of the coast campers.

All friendlies hang out at Chern, Elektro, Stary tents, NW barracks, Berenzino. Just ask.

I mainly hang around on the outskirts of built up towns, usually in a dense tree line, until dusk. I will raid towns as quickly as possible, making sure to avoid zeds and other players, before stealing out into the forest again before sunlight evaporates. I'll occasionally get deep enough to set a campfire and take the weight off before quitting the server and bedding down in real life.

I am more of a nomad. I do not like staying in one place for any length of time. The more static you are the higher your chances of someone finding you. I move as I please from north to south. East to west. Avoiding the coast wherever possible unless I just spawned anew. I prefer the wilderness to towns and only go to urban areas when I need supplies or want to explore somewhere I haven't been in a while.
