Confused about servers

Recommended Posts

So on some servers i start completely new like it says choose male or female. But when i go on other servers i still have the same things as i had before.

i.e im fully geared on a server. I go to a new server i restart completely. I go back to some other servers im fully geared again.

is this supposed to happen? Someone please explain D:

Sounds like you are joining private hive servers, marked with a cloud with a x on DayZCommander.

So does it mean i have like 2 completely different profiles in a sense?

DayZ

Servers = Server u are playing on in the normal sense

Hive = Where your character location / stats / inventory is saved to.

player -> server -> hive

This way when u play on a server one day, u can log off.

Play again later & continue from where u left off at, regardless of what server u are on.

-------------------------------------

-------------------------------------

Private hives are basicly using a different hive/server to save character info at.

So yes they are kinda like having another profile in away. I would compare it to playing a mmo that is sharded.

Also the servers using private hives, arent tied to the same dayz server rules.

So the admins can kick / ban whoever they want & have global chat on etc...

Some servers will have there own individual private hives & some will share the same private hive

For example servers starting with DayZLingor & DayZChernarus use vilayer's own private hive,

----------------------

----------------------

Also if u want to just play on offical servers & save yourself some confusion.

Select "Hide Unoffical Servers" in Dayz-Commander u will only see servers using the offical hive.
