Just put on the ghillie suit. What are my chances?

What are my chances of NOT winding up in the ocean? 50-50? Me and a friend decided to take the plunge and put on the camo and I put on the ghillie suit in empathy. Die alone, together spawn in the ocean.

Anways, wondering what my chances are.

I've had the ghillie suit since it came out, never ended up in the ocean. Using the beta patch and all that jazz.

I run 1.6.0.1 (the one and only), without any beta patches and camo clothing works great.

I put on camo clothing on Sunday running the latest beta at the time (586 I believe). I left the server a few minutes later and respawned in the ocean. Total bummer because it was my best character yet but oh well.

I see someone posted about waiting 15 minutes. I definitely didn't do that so I'll keep that in mind next time. Although once again I've built a pretty good character and I'm not sure I'm willing to take the chance again until I'm 100% certain this bug is gone.

I'm on day 5, hopping between my favorite 1.6 server and the 1.7 server my friends play, without any problems so far. I'm with the ghillie suit, but I played up to day 4 before on camo.

I always wait a few minutes before logging out, including never logging out in a rush to avoid death, although I killed Arma 2 on the task manager when I got in unconscious and bleeding once. Stayed off until medics arrived, and no problem.

So that's how everyone is getting such long plays. Log out and call the transfusion squad when things get hairy.

Actually since every player is going by the "Shoot first, ask questions later" rule, i tend to disconnect the moment i see another player, not only if he sees me/opens fire.

I found a ghillie suit pretty much when just after beta was released, and have not had a problem with spawning in an ocean. I also have jumped around servers because I like to find night servers.

I got Ghillie suit --> Ocean. I play 1.7 without the Arma2 beta installed, so maybe that was what did it. However, I survived the swim back to shore with my newfound suit. I lost a lot of good equipment, but survived to tell the tale, and now I feel like I REALLY earned my suit.

Does equipping this gear cause a water spawn/dev forrest issue immediately?

Can one wear it, dequip it before logging to avoid any issues or does it occur as soon as it is equipped?

It normally occurs after you log in next. If it affects you your kills will reset to 0. Taking it off makes no difference.

If it happens to you, you will retain your backpack (everything that's in it) and your equipment. Swim to shore, and then run east. It only happens once, and then you are free to go about your day.

used camo clothing last night, running latest dayz with latest beta for arma.. Connected to 3 different servers through the evening playing and still while wearing the camo clothing, no silly spawn in water or the like, etc etc..

Never have had that issue with the skin changes, I think it might just be related to the version one is using for days and beta combo, + plus maybe the hive version the server is using..

Ive been on some real excellent servers as well, and I mean real smooth as the game should be, and then some real shoddy ones that crawl along all clunky.. When one refreshes the server listings, to me it looks like there are a fair few admisn that dont want to keep abreast of things regarding latest updates etc? Not sure :).

Also... why is it so damn hard for people that pay for hosting to edit the server to reflect what version and game modes allowed etc to show? I mean seriously there are some real lazy people out there.
