miltonatchet 3 Posted September 5, 2012 In ARMA II "Private Military Company" Crows circle the dead bodies after some time of the character being killed. Could we please see this in DayZ replacing the Flies or even combining Circling Crows with the Flies buzzing around the body?Any thoughts?
jetao2008@hotmail.com 175 Posted September 5, 2012 (edited) I have nothing against this, although i don't like the flies at all, very annoying. Edited September 5, 2012 by Fenrig
InsanePain 3 Posted September 5, 2012 It seems like a very good idea, but lets say there's a sniper in Cherno, there's about 5 dead bodies in the same general area, the sky will look pretty black. You're idea is good, but it would be too much of a give-a-way, and people would abuse it and use them as beacons, searching exclusively for the crows.
harley001 315 Posted September 5, 2012 Survey the zone. I always do. If i see alot of body's in one place I stay far the heck away.
Welch (DayZ) 756 Posted September 5, 2012 Couldn't it also glitch and zeds would get crows, too? Then it'd just be a mess... I mean, why wouldn't a crow eat a zed?
GeordieMarv 293 Posted September 5, 2012 (edited) Server load?? Would just be more stuff for the server to draw/remember...lots of crow "objects" circling about.Much more efficient to just use sound. Edited September 5, 2012 by GeordieMarv

That way it wouldn't be too much of a give away, avoiding clustered skies ?Also I imagine people would also use it as a warning letting them know trouble isn't too far away! There could even be a timer allowing the Crows to circle for only 10 or 15 minutes, that way the killer has time to vacate the area or enough time to set up camp to trap unsuspecting survivors. Not trying to toot my own horn here but I honestly think this is a really good idea that with smooth planning could work in every ones favour :)

DemonGroover 8836 Posted September 6, 2012 Why not just have two or three Zeds feasting on the corpse?
speca 193 Posted September 6, 2012 Why not just have two or three Zeds feasting on the corpse?Yea, or have them standing near it?
Mos1ey 6301 Posted September 6, 2012 (edited) Why not just have two or three Zeds feasting on the corpse?Love this idea.Would make the game feel more authentic and looting non-fresh corpses a bit more troublesome. Edited September 6, 2012 by mZLY
Hetstaine 10852 Posted September 6, 2012 I like the crows idea, has been brought up a few times and i think it is an authentic touch. Dead shit attracts crows. If only 4-5 crows are loitering for say an hour or so in an area of a mile then , sure, you give away that a dead body is there. Its a risk to take if the shooter is still there though, just like coming across a chemlight. Someone has passed through within the last 1-59 minutes, was it to light an area or is it a trap ? It would add to the game as you need to make a choice whether you want to sus out the body, the surrounding area or just bug out. A quick adrenaline rush everytime you spot the crows in a group, plus , atmosphere. Needs longer than a 15 minute timer though as the window is too small, a sniper type will be more likely to hang around if he knows he only has to wait for a short amount of time to see if anymore trade ventures along. Most survivors would more than likely want to hide the kill so it does not attract attention. Definitely cool.
miltonatchet 3 Posted September 6, 2012 Server load?? Would just be more stuff for the server to draw/remember...lots of crow "objects" circling about.Much more efficient to just use sound. The game does already have Crows flying freely around and I Imagine the developers would not need to give the crows that great of textures seeing as we would never get close enough to see them face to face. it wouldn't take much for the server to load such a small thing, also I guess they would be on a timer so you probably wont have more than 15 to 20 flying around at one time
miltonatchet 3 Posted September 6, 2012 Why not just have two or three Zeds feasting on the corpse? That has already been implemented into the game hasn't it? also with crows you would be able to spot the death scene from a greater distance giving a greater advantage for both bandits to trap survivors and for survivors to either avoid or hunt. Yeah I agree actually, having a larger time frame would make it more of a chore for people to hang around but not too long for others that are willing to wait so that we can still have the 50/50 chance of someone stalking others.
