gavin0101 17 Posted September 5, 2012 Okay, well i've found out that my computer doesn't run DayZ very well AT ALL! I have stop motion lag the whole time. I have two question. 1. When I buy a new laptop will I have to buy Arma II again? 2. Can someone link me to a computer that has some of these specs.A quad core AMD Phenom or similar (not sure what AMD chips are upto lately...i use Intel)4 GB DDR3 RamAnd ATI Gfx card.Decent motherboard .... gigabyte or asus or something similar.Consider the price, I don't want an over priced laptop like alienware. XMorTus 15 Posted September 5, 2012 You will not need to buy a new copy of ARMA.But I am a little confused are you looking at getting a desktop or a laptop. For gaming there is no way to beat a PC in raw power and price per performance.
RabidDiabetic 63 Posted September 5, 2012 Custom building a PC is the best way to go about this. The problem is whether or not you know how to assemble it and get it going. You can buy a custom PC piece by piece and put it together and save hundreds and have yourself a nice set-up. I've put together "decent" computers in the $500 range and pretty damn powerful ones in the $1000 range. GIve me a price range you are looking for and I'll see what I can dig up. BouncingObject 0 Posted September 5, 2012 If you're looking at a laptop, I play DayZ on Very High smoothly on this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834215410Had this laptop for about a month and I love it. It plays everything really well, especially Arma II and DayZ.
gavin0101 17 Posted September 5, 2012 I don't know how to assemble a computer though. So I would run into trouble buying it piece by piece. :P
RabidDiabetic 63 Posted September 5, 2012 I don't know how to assemble a computer though. So I would run into trouble buying it piece by piece. :PHonestly man it's a LOT easier than you might think. I started last year when I went to upgrade my video card and power supply. I brought them up to the geek squad guy and was like "how much would be it and how long would it take to install these in my PC?" and he tells me 5-8 days and $150. As a gamer you must know what 5-8 days means, a freakin eternity is correct. So I said screw it, bought the stuff and went home. 2 hours and a few youtube videos later I had my PC running with the new stuff installed. I honestly think you should give that another thought as you are going to get a lot more power at a much better price. Where are you located if you don't mind me asking? If by some dumb luck I'm not terribly far away I could give you a hand.If you're looking at a laptop, I play DayZ on Very High smoothly on this:http://www.newegg.co...N82E16834215410Had this laptop for about a month and I love it. My problem with laptops is never at the time of purchase but in 1 year when technology jumps way ahead you can upgrade almost nothing. When my gfx card is obsolete in a year I can just swap that out on my PC and I'm good to go.Just my 2 cents
