eclipsechris 0 Posted September 4, 2012 (edited) Im using DayZ Commander, and first thing i did today when i get home this evening was log into my favorite server, in the process i noticed there were updates ( ARMA II 96493/95 and DAYZ LINGOR .34).So im on the server, playing the game with the character i have been using for the past week or so, and its super laggy so i just got off and installed the updates using the DayZ Commander. I go to log onto a server, and all my stuff is gone. I had to start off fresh.I spent way too much time and effort to get where i was one update ago. So im pretty pissed. Is there anything i can do at all or what? Because i'm not going to start over for no reason. I have wasted more money worse reasons. My gamer name is chris, which there may be multiple of, i have no idea... Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted September 4, 2012 It's all gone. It's pretty common to lose your gear when you update.
NickMackz 9 Posted September 5, 2012 (edited) Common problem if you play on servers with different Arma 2 beta version than you, or if you jump between servers with different versions. Always use the same beta version as the server you play on and this is less likely to happen. It happened to me twice in a row. Both times I lost everything, including my bag. I didn't commit suicide but found everything again (twice). I am still alive and somewhere around 30-40 days old now. Collecting everything is one of the best bits of the game IMO. Once you have everything, there isn't much left to do other than vehicles (which don't save / load properly at the moment so there is no point repairing them). This is all just really annoying I havn't been playing long but i finally got a couple great guns, with all the tools i needed to be self sufficient, and its gone. Maybe i'm too impatient to look forward to wandering almost aimlessly to find half that stuff again for several days. That doesn't appeal to me. P.S. where do i see what version the servers are so i know better. P.S.S. why are there only like 30 servers i can even play on since the updates? I don't understand. SystemiK 366 Posted September 5, 2012 (edited) Versions are in the server name (1.7.X.X = dayz version / 96XXX = Arma 2 beta version) kind of hard to miss.Your best bet for keeping up with what versions are available / popular is to use DayZ Commander and look at the "install/update" tab. It will allow you to easily install or roll back versions, as well as showing what percentage of servers are running each version of dayz or beta patch. For example DayZ Commander shows that right now only 9% of servers are running 1.7.2.4 which may be why you are seeing so few servers available if you are running that version. If you are running 1.7.2.5 then you are having some other problem... Edited September 5, 2012 by SystemiK
Chuckles (DayZ) 32 Posted September 5, 2012 Its no big deal to me personally, happened to me just tonight and has happened to me twice before. This time around I lost an AS50 and a l85 AWS and all tools/NVG/Rangefinder. Half the fun is getting the gear anyway, so its back to the old grind for me. The best advice I could give you is try to have your fun searching for your gear not possessing it, because sooner or later your going to get alphaed. And it seems like the reason there are so few servers to play on is because of the ARMA II version. The one i just updated to doesn't even show up on that chart. Maybe it does and i'm just pissy, i don't know.
