Found a boat but why is it sooo slow?

I just found a boat and everything in it was fine but it goes so damn slow, the highest speed ive reached is 14km/h.

yeah it sucks but its the only way to get to that island

The small white boats are very slow, top speed 14kmh, they are only useful if the server you are playing on has the lose items in water setting enabled, otherwise you are probably better off just swimming.

The PBX (powered rubber raft) is quite fast with a top speed of 70kmh, it's the only boat I bother using.
