transfering characters to different computers

ok so when I first started playing dayz I was at my buddies house playing on one of his three computers and I noticed if I tried to play on a different computer I was unable to continue with the character I had made. But now that I am home and still unable to do so I was wondering if there is any possibility to pull my character from the first computer onto my home computer?

if its the same CD key its the same character

Characters are not saved on your computer

DayZ uses your OA cd key, if you are using the same copy of the game it will use the same character, they aren't tied to your computer.

I use Steam version. Was able to re-download the game and play on my laptop while on a business trip.
