Actually im curious, who exactly hears group chat? I was unaware there was a button to press to form a group with someone

Group is for when you're speaking in the lobby. I don't think there is a global chat enabled at the moment and if there is, Admins are the only ones with access to it. Most servers have a teamspeak or it's own website depending on it's popularity; try looking for those.
