[FIXED] Another thread about characters not saving + Battleeye not responding

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I know plenty of these threads exist when you do a search for them, but I didn't see any on the first page. This bug really needs to be fixed in order for this game to be playable for people like me who are having this problem.

After playing on a server for a while, I logged off to take a break. When I logged back on (different server) I had to create a whole new character. I have to do this every time I try to play DayZ. August 31st was my first time playing DayZ and so far it hasn't had a good impression. I know its in Alpha so I'm not really complaining, but its disappointing and frustrating! For now I'll suck it up until its fixed but I hope this gets addressed soon. Don't even get me started on the 'Battleeye not responding' error lol..

Additional info: I am playing the game through Steam. Arma 2: Free + Arma 2: OA. I have the latest beta patch and DayZ was installed through the Six Launcher. I ended up installing DayZ manually as well. If anyone brings up the Battleeye problem, I've tried reinstalling it, updating it, running as admin, etc etc.

Thank you for your time.

Your character not saving seems to be related to playing in servers with a private hive (the central server that stores all DayZ characters), and not the official one. It happened to me once, starting with a brand new character, but after changing the server I had my previous character untouched.

I did read on these forums about private hives but I wasn't quite sure if that was my problem. I'll pay attention to the server names and make sure I'm on the official ones. I'll reply back here if I still get the problem.

Thank you.

Alright so in the past 2 days I've tried over 10 servers and each time it makes me make a new character. Definitely not a private hive issue. If anyone has ideas for a fix then please let me know.

Update/Fix: I downloaded DayZ Commander and started joining servers through that and guess what? It saves my characters now! When I went into 'Versions' in Dayz Commander it said Arma 2 was a little out of date for some reason (even though it was through Steam and I installed the beta patch) so I downloaded that just in case. That update could have possibly fixed my problem and not DayZ Commander itself, but who knows. Anyway, that is how I fixed my issue.

To get past the 'Battleeye client not responding' problem I followed the steps here: http://dayzmod.com/f...ix-steam-users/

1) Open DayZ Commander

2) At the top right click 'Settings'

3) Under 'Steam options' you need to check both 'Launch using Steam' and 'Replace original Arma2OA files with Beta so Steam works'

Now here is the fix for Battleeye not responding. Its a bit odd but it works.

4) Before you join a server, uncheck 'Launch using Steam' and recheck it. Join a server and you should be error free! You have to do this step every time.
