  1. As I said before: you want it quickly, or you want it well done. You can't have both. Have some patience FFS. Has anyone that complains about slow development in Dayz bought other early access games? DayZ has LIGHTNING FAST update cycles, compared to other games I've played, like Project Zomboid or Kerbal Space Program. And good for them, I'm not saying that's a bad thing. You payed for a finished game that will be released in 2015/2016. At a discount for buying so early. The devs then let you play their buggy unplayable alpha and beta, and work hard so it is as bug-free as possible so it's fun to play. You didn't pay to get all the features you expect from the finished game in the 3 and a half months that have passed from the alpha release. If by the end of the alpha you see that the announced core features haven't made it to the game, then start worrying. But not yet. They will come, at their due time.
  2. I believe making an "stable" branch is slowing down the development of the game. They should be pushing new features and content updates with or without game breaking bugs, not worrying about it's stability. Bug-fixing should come in late alpha or even in beta. I understand it's a public (and paid for) alpha, so it should be kind of playable, but we would be better off with just the experimental branch. So I can't play DayZ because the build that's currently on experimental crashes on me, or it's unplayable? Ok, then I'll report it and go play something else until next update. So if someone complains that the update is taking too long to reach stable release and then complains about the bugs and instability, they should know that it's kind of their fault. You can't have both things.

    Clipped Thru Wall

You can try to disconnect and reconnect really close to the wall that you clipped through. Sometimes you log in the correct place. It may be a pain with the new countdown system for logging/relogging, though,

    Action/Spectator Mode

That's why a lot of people want 3rd person and crosshairs to be removed. They are not realistic. But they are there for a reason, though. They have a purpose. The crosshairs allow to pick up hard to reach items that don't show in the vecinity part of the inventory, which would be difficult to do without exactly knowing where the center of the screen is. And 3rd person allows for a more pleasant movement, although it can be used to cheat. I personally prefer 3rd person to be removed, and mainly play at hardcore servers. But your suggestion completely breaks inmersion and it just doesn't belong to a game that tries to be a sim / authentic / realistic. It serves no purpose other than magically see shots fired when you're bored. I hope that was constructive enough. EDIT: Typos were made.
  5. Don't worry. It is known that the first "permanent" item that will come are backpacks. So you can toss a backpack in the woods and fill it with stuff and it will be there after server restart.
  6. You currently have two characters, one in the "regular" hive, and another one in the "hardcore" hive. This is awesome because I can leave my "regular" character near my friends and do whatever the hell I want with my "hardcore" character.
  7. They said: "Action: Players can now collect Berries as food" That is, if there were any. Lies were not told :D In all seriousness, though, it may be a bug. Or maybe what I said is right, and they meant that the action of berry picking was implemented, but there aren't any berries to pick yet.

    Please Dayz

Self defense and even paranoia are part of the game, that's cool. But with leaderboards people would get out of their way to kill other players. They would camp the coast just to get easy kills from the newspawns to get their kill count up.Yeah, yeah, yeah, we all know that they shouldn't be lingering on the coastal towns, but killing just for killing shouldn't be encouraged. The stats that, in my opinion, should be shown on the leaderboards are number of deaths, most common cause of death, current time alive, longest time alive, rarest item found, zombies killed, and things like that.

    Suicide

Try disconnecting while really close to a wall, and then connect again to a server. Sometimes you spawn outside the room. If not, try running against all the walls and vaulting through them. It sucks, but I've seen people get out of there. I myself scaped from one locked room in the wrecked ship by logging out and then in again.
  10. Well, it just seemed to have fixed itself :/
  11. So, alt+tab worked perfectly until last patch, but now the game freezes and needs to be restarted. I use a 2 monitor setup, so in the background I have opened some apps for monitoring my CPU and GPU temps and the FPS I can get, all in the secondary monitor . I also use the the DayZDB map to find my way whenever I play with friends, and need to know exactly where we are so we can meet up. Prior to the patch, I could click on the map, drag it, and zoom in or out, but the game was minimized whenever I did so. The game went back to full screen without problems, though. Now the game isn't minimized, but it just freezes. When I try to come back, it's completely frozen, except ambient sounds. I can see the frozen image of the game, but can't do anything. Is this happening to anyone else? I haven't found anything with the search function. I will search the bugtracker for this issue, and if I can't find it, I will add it myself. My specs, if those matter: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits. Nvidia GTX 780 Intel i7 4770k ASUS Z87 pro 32GB RAM OS installed in a 128 GB SSD Game installed in a 256 GB SSD
  12. Do you understand that "alpha" is the phase in which new features are constantly implemented, taking priority over bugfixing or balancing? If a bug can be easily fixed, then it will be. If it's not, then it will be fixed at a later time. If you want a beta, then wait for the beta (late 2014). Remember that this month has been slow because of the holidays. Dean Hall just returned from New Zealand. I guess the updates will come more quickly from now on. And your argument is just false. The alpha has been out for less than 5 weeks and we have seen several patches. The average is even higher that one per week.

It's just a matter of balance, and that's hard to nail. You might be right. We agree on the basics though.
  14. I made a search, but couldn't find anything. Sorry if this has been discussed before or if this is not the place for this thread. As the title says, I get a huge performance drop with ambient occlusion enabled. I'm talking a 10-20 fps drop. I play at 2560x1440 resolution, and without ambient occlusion I get 40 to 50 fps in the wilderness with everything maxed out (except edge smoothing and antialiasing, which I think are almost irrelevant at this resolution). With it enabled it drops to around 30, sometimes dropping to 27 or so. In cities, the drop is unnoticeable, maybe 2-3 fps from 28 to 25 or something like that, which makes it seems to me that, in cities, my GPU is not being used at its maximum, but that's a different issue. Is this normal? Should ambient occlusion make that big of an impact in perfomance? I see the game looks way prettier with it enabled, so I would like to use it, but not at this cost. My specs: Intel i7 4770k at the stock speed. MSI Nvidia GTX 780 Gaming (954MHz Core (Boost Clock:1006MHz)). 32GB RAM at 1333 MHz. SSD's - Samsung 840 PRO 128 GB for OS and 256GB for games. Everything running at comfortable temperatures. Any suggestions? Or is everything normal this way?

Maybe add it as the extremely rare weapon, with extremely rare ammo, and even more extremely rare magazines. Make it part of the future global economy Rocket talked about, so there can only be 2 or 3 of them across ALL servers. Add a weight system to the inventory (this suggestion has nothing to do with the weapon itself, it would be cool even if the weapon is not added), so the player becomes extremely tired and can't even jog for long distances, unless they give up important gear to go for a lighter load. Make using it really clunky. Slow reload, Bad maneuvering with the weapon unholstered, really bad recoil, etcetera... Remember that the players are not trained soldiers, just average janes and joes that are just fighting to survive. Hard to understand why they would want to use such a weapon, but hey, to each their own. EDIT: What thedogfoodyayho said. His is a much better post than mine. Except the limit of 2000 guns, I think that's way too many.
