Well.... Alpha was setup to gather statistics on player behavior. One thing that is obvious by now is that people absolutely love building camps and little bases. I do not think it's just to cheat perma-death, I see it more like an end game creative outlet. Rocket understands this hence underground construction coming later with the standalone.

The server I usually play on stuck to 1.7.2.4 till recently, everything saved, but at the end they updated, because clients were auto-updated by six-launcher and player count dropped from 40 to 3-5 during prime-time. And server owners want people playing on their hosts. So now we have 30+ ppl playing with all the patch problems.

Good luck, I tried placing a tent and I couldn't place it In the middle of the empty road west of kamenka. That shit not only doesn't work for me but there are now public scripts to destroy all tents on a server

The fun is not the fact that you have unlimited gear, it's fun collecting all the shit for your camp. Some of my most fun dayz days have been setting up camps. It's tedious work, driving around looking for vehicles, searching airfields, looking for crash sites, picking a place to put it down, but it's always great fun.

Im testing it by some suggestions in another thread:

Stick them on the most even ground you can find.

Save them only once

Dont place them anywhere near any objects like trees/rocks

I think the major thing is trees. When trees are added back in after a server reset they seem to sometimes slightly adjust the position of the tent and at the same time delete everything in them. I have my tent just near debug plains but still inside. So far its gone through 2 resets without losing anything. On that same server I lost everything in a tent after 1 reset and had a duplicate tent on top of my original tent. It doesn't have to be debug plains, there are some decent spots on the map. They just aren't all very good at hiding.

I'm just saying, creating a tent to store your food in for that specific day and mark it as your camp for that night would actually be fun, like a safe haven temporarily, and empty it once you're moving on again. Something realistic, but whatever, there'll always be people like you.
