gigolojoe0928 2 Posted August 31, 2012 Question, i would love to hear that all these battleye bans for scripters will be taken down as ip/mac adress bans and carried over to the standalone. sorry if topic was already put up, but its a great idea huh
bond1971@tpg.com.au 92 Posted August 31, 2012 I think if the hackers thought for a minute that their bans would carry across to the standalone would make them think twice before hacking. I vote that Yes, bans should carry across.
AzVirus 25 Posted August 31, 2012 unless they do hardware bans it will never happen, at least the game is not F2P, but if Rocket does not charge a decent amount hackers will just rebuy it.
bond1971@tpg.com.au 92 Posted August 31, 2012 Hmm depends if he uses BattlEye for protection, if so then quite possibly the bans will carry across.
Buffjesus 357 Posted August 31, 2012 (edited) CDkeysstand alone wont use arma 2 cdkeysno battleye doesnt use hardwareID bans for small things like game hacks. if you tried to hack battleye then yes youre probably hardware ID banned and screwed.edited to make it mother friendly for max. Minamo 114 Posted August 31, 2012 They wont, You can be banned from APB (Punkbuster) and still play CoD.. or BF3,Hell you can get banned for Half-life 2 and still play CS:SI've not heard of a single game which carries over the ban list from one game to another even tho its the same publicer, not even for example: CS:S to CS:GO the list is carried over :(

csharp 47 Posted August 31, 2012 Off topic; Actually VAC is tied to your steam account, so if you get vac bans from cheating in Half Life 1, you will be vac banned in TF2. The thing is that many servers doesn't use VAC so no problem there. On topic; Atleast in Finland, most of the IPs are dynamic, meaning that when you reboot your computer, your ip might change. Would be pretty damn nice to not to be able to play, because kid next door used hacks. MAC address bans are easy to go around. TBH, cdkey banning is the only effective way. MGreenwald 49 Posted August 31, 2012 The stand alone will have a whole different list of user information you'd have to agree to. The mod didnt have any, so banning people even from the mod is questionable. Rocket will have to make sure his contract will state everything you can get banned for in the stand alone.
h3retic 224 Posted August 31, 2012 there were quite a few of false positives that werent actually lifted so u basically condemn these ppl to no dayz, as well, if the ip adress ban be carried over.
Tigger (DayZ) 24 Posted August 31, 2012 You can't do IP address or MAC address bans for obvious reasons.
adamtheheretic 106 Posted August 31, 2012 It's a good threat but I don't think it'll happen...
