Dwindok 3 Posted August 30, 2012 (edited) I have read some news about the DayZ Standalone and have found out that zombies won't stop running when inside of buildings, which is obviously a logical step forward, but to be honest, some of these "features" we were used to were our defense against the very unfair behaviour of the zombies - the sudden spawn in front of your eyes for example. We had some answer, some defense we could used when that happened. So basically what I am suggesting is, the behaviour of the zombies has to be more transparent, fair (or at least realistic) and of course much less glitchy (attacks from the other side of a wall, running through the doors etc.). Then, you can make them stronger, faster and everything and the players have to keep up somehow - that what surviving is all about - knowing the weak and strong sides of your enemies and plan your steps accordingly.Which brings me to the second part of the post - the interactions with the zombies. I am not planning to spend Christmas with them of course or to play the nurse and the doctor obviously, but the interaction can go much further than just to kill them or run away or be eaten by them. Just few examples:Zombies cannot eat indefinitely, they have some (maybe much larger than us) stomic capacity. So why don't we feed them with something they like and then safely search the city without shooting. Put some meat over there and watch them being pulled by the smell. Also, they might get fascinated by something - like in the current version of DayZ - the smoke grenades so you can safely run or maybe only walk through zombie crowd if you really need (I am not the one who tries this first!).You can even capture them and make them watch over your clan property (of course against thieves, murders and sadly yourselves as well /stupid fucking zombies I am the one who'd hired you/) unless they are species which travels great distances over time. They maybe hate something as well - high-frequency sounds, whatever. Go get a special whistle.Today, our physical properties are nearly the same - we run as fast as they do, we hear like they do, we see like they do. We do not need to use special tactics, we are not afraid to go to cities after few deaths and learning some basics about them. This can make the game very quickly pure PvP and that would be a waste of its potential.I think their behaviour should be mapped and described very well - what do they do when they don't find any food over longer periods of time. Do they like more the day or the night time and what is their typical behaviour those times? Can they heal themselves by eating and for example cure their crippled legs (I live in the neighbourhood of one which only crawls, can I trust that she won't ever stand up and run again?).These are just a few ideas for the future development of this great game. I am pretty sure everyone of you can easily find out more examples. Edited August 30, 2012 by Dwindok

Baralai 14 Posted August 30, 2012 Zombies have no stomach capacity, they'll eat until their stomachs burst and then continue to eat more. All while the food they are currently eating is slowly falling out of the hole in their stomach and eventually bursts out somewhere. The sound idea 'could' work, but I don't think giving them supersonic hearing would be in the best interest of the game (although it would add a huge paranoia aspect to the game whenever you open a can of soda in the middle of a town). In terms of how slow the zombies now move, if they take that concept over to standalone, I would personally love to see there be 3x as zombies as there usually are in towns when spawned. Instead of 3-4 per building, make it like 10 zombies per building and have them actually spawn in the buildings as well instead of using them as a safe-haven to lure them in and kill them. If zombies stop running while in buildings, this would make it all the better imo and restore the balance between pvp and players vs zombies. I also think in terms of how buildings are presented, if there is an open window you should be able to jump through them (as well as zombies being able to flop themselves inside in the same manner.I really do like the idea of capturing a zombie and chaining it in a specific area to deter people from going near it (although also giving away the position of the base but at the same time telling people inside that somebody is outside). Sorry if you disagree with anything I've stated, although i'm just looking at it in my own eyes. I'm sure that everybody has their own concept of how zombies should respond and react in certain situations. On a side note, title is completely misleading and using caps on PORN only makes it stand out more to the fact that there is absolutely no porn in this thread. Extremely disappointed :(.
