Nick2389 54 Posted August 30, 2012 I just thought of how cool it would be if you could lay some barbed wire in a grassy field which if players ran into it they would become immobile for a few seconds with the action of pulling their clothes of the barbed wire. This would greatly assist trappers / sniper trappers who could set up a vantage point wait for a player to run through the field and boom they get caught and the sniper picks him off like a fish in a barrell.Secondly the sense of fear and worry if a group ran through said field and one of their members got caught and started screaming "get this off me quick!" the sniper could then use the baiting tactic seen in many a war film and real life.Key Benefits:ImmersionRealismDeeper required Awareness of surroundingsKey Features:Player can remove self from wire in 7 secondsAnother Player could assist in removal for instant removalPossible Torn clothing and hagged look about the character
kannibalkiwi 7 Posted August 30, 2012 sounds pretty awesome, there needs to be more trappable items in the stadalone!
AmaruKaze 5 Posted August 30, 2012 Realism? Okay I'll expand your idea:Running with approximately 10 miles per hour makes you quite fast and especially at that speed you encounter a barbed wire the chance of a fatal injury are high:The barbed wire is designed to caused cuts and injuries (the more speed you have the deeper it will sink in)In addition to that the leg has many very vulnerable arteries and veins, which would make the likeliness of a ripped/cut main blood circuit quite hight.Assumed, the Post-Apocalyptic Scenario no doctors would be around to patch the player up, therefore the person would bleed to death.Back to Topic:Disagree. This is Game is about Zombies Versus Players, PVP is part but NOT main aspect. It would buff lazy camping, sitting around for the next player kill. So it wouldn't contribute anything to the original game idea.
Nick2389 54 Posted August 30, 2012 (edited) Expanding my idea just to tear it down isn't really that helpful at all and thanks but no thanks it didn't need expanding. It is the correct amount of realism : fun.I read your other posts and you seem to believe realism should be taken to the bitter extreme. Why would anyone play this game if you needed the level of realism were you took a dump and you needed a medical degree to cure a person. It fits very well into the game mechanics at the level of realism : fun i stated it at.The zombie apocolypse always goes tits-up because of people killing each other. If everyone was bezzy-mates then the zombies would be pretty useless after you all built a concrete wall. You need PvP to create a full experience. This game without the feeling of someone watching you would be very boring after a few days. You rating people's ideas on your own set of merits & critical judgement speaking as if you have a clear say on implemention and Rocket's own personal judgement.Leave it for the development team. It is meant to be a hard, frustrating game. I don't see the point that a Game has to be entertaining by creating fun moments"Therefore I would probably say given his opinion. The fact he states it is a simulation, as good as Arma2 Engine allows at the current moment,Plus the fact he said he wants to buff the Zombies to be extremely deadly...Better buy WarZ because this Game will suck for you... a lot... bazbake 456 Posted August 31, 2012 (edited) Realism? The femoral artery is about 5 or 6 inches deep in your leg surrounded by muscle. Even if we're talking razor wire, it's still no longer even though the "razors" are wider. And it's not actually razor sharp, it's just curved barbed wire. Seriously, I grew up around razor wire (living in Texas and all) and used to climb it and hop it all the time. It's painful but it's not a weapon or anything. It's just a painful deterrent circumvented with a carpet or a leather jacket. In the game it slows you down with a chance of causing bleeding. That sounds about right, but only because throwing your backpack on top and rolling over the top of the razor wire would be a little too easy in-game. I could see someone getting snagged on razor wire, of course, since that's what a lot of little barbs will do on clothing. But killing you? Not really unless you use it as a necktie or something. Also, don't take what AmaruKaze said too seriously. Most people on these boards who talk realism only want the realism that makes their playstyle more fun for them. Hence the whole, "Barbed wire would kill you if you got caught in it" thing. It's not about what barbed wire really does, it's about convincing you not to use barbed wire because they don't like it.On a side note: technically, you should be able to drive a car through barbed wire, and you used to be able to cut through barbed wire with a hatchet before they buffed it. The game is expressly removing realism from the game in order to make certain things more useful to players. I doubt Rocket is too concerned with the idea of realism at this point and is more concerned with crafting a certain environment that is conducive to selling copies of the game.
