What does /thread mean?

I've seen it used quite a bit around here and never understood what it meant....

I'll probably get many a-posts saying /thread at the bottom...

It means when someone says something so insightful that the need for anyone else to reply is forfeited and reluctant.

Mostly people use it because the OP's opinion does not agree with theirs so thus /thread = end thread. It was only ever used when the posters question had been answered correctly so there was no need to go any further with the thread. But as things go it pops up all the time now and nobody ever takes notice of it so it is overused to the point of irrelevancy .

it comes from html coding. in html if you wanted to make something bold, you would surround it with this: <bold>your words</bold>. the "/bold" means that you are done bolding words.
