Brocifer 0 Posted August 30, 2012 Hey guys, I'm a bit annoyed right now with a lazy support tech, so decided to at least make sure other players are forewarned. Vilayer is advertising that they provide a Timezone Changer for the DayZ server instances, but it doesn't currently work.In a nutshell, last night I tried to use the batch file it didn't work and a support tech helped set it for me manually. He explained it was due to a bug with the latest version of ACP and their batch file. This was my first night with my new instance so I figured no problem. This evening I log in to discover that my server was on a different offset again. May have been due to a scheduled restart, but I'd hoped the offset would persist. Anyhow, I attempted to get the offset changed again and had the following exchange with a support tech. I'm still awaiting Casey's reply, yeah right...I have no others problems with Vilayer frankly, but complete lack of support on something you advertise as a feature that is broken is really bad business.tl;dr If you want the ability to change the time offset for your DayZ server instance, don't use Vilayer. icetbag 3 Posted August 30, 2012 Their high ping kick feature also doesn't seem to work...unless its broken in the actual game.
PersonalJ 5 Posted August 30, 2012 (edited) The time zone changer can only be set once as it reads from a database for the private hive servers. This service has only been released for 36 hours and we are working on integrating a tool to run a database query, it does not read local server time like normal DayZ. Lee is calling you on the phone now.Their high ping kick feature also doesn't seem to work...unless its broken in the actual game.Delete your be_server_active.cfg in the cfgdayz/battleye directory as noted in the knowledge base article on vilayer.com Edited August 30, 2012 by PersonalJ
NigeyS 16 Posted August 30, 2012 Their high ping kick feature also doesn't seem to work...unless its broken in the actual game. The high ping kick feature DOES work, and just to be 100% plain on this, the high ping kick is set within the battle eye config, and implimented via battle eye. Brocifer 0 Posted August 30, 2012 (edited) Please don't derail the thread. Just for the record, the high ping feature works just fine for me. I was watching it via DaRT earlier and it worked perfectly.@PersonalJ, thanks very much for the speedy reply. I did just receive a call, but didn't recognize the number so ignored it. Lee can call back if he'd like. Edited August 30, 2012 by brocifer
Graz (DayZ) 146 Posted August 30, 2012 Time changer works on mine, are you doing all the right procedures?Stopping server, changing the time, making sure your only doing it once every 24 hours. Saving, start/stop check if it went through?I too have problems with the ping kicker, there is an armaholic application that lets you set it so I've just been using that.Vilayer support is always prompt for me, and I live in Australia, so time zones are a bitch. I have sent 7 tickets so far asking questions and off topic support (Hive Q&A, tutorials) and the have all been replied to within 2 hours. The ToS states that the time changer has a cool-down to comply with the rules set by Dayz. Vilayer's strict adherence to Dayz regulations is one of the reasons they are automatically white listed.Anyway, hopefully your issue gets resolved

No word yet as to why it's still being advertised as a feature for the DayZ Package product.
Brocifer 0 Posted August 30, 2012 Bump!Still no resolution from Vilayer. They're basically offering to change the offset for me one more time, "as a courtesy". In other words, if you buy the DayZ package and expect to be able to change your server's offset, you better hope it saves the offset because they're only going to change it for you manually ONCE and the timezone changer as advertised simply doesn't work at all. After that, apparently you're just screwed. I hope they're at least ethical enough to change their advertisement banners, because what they're doing is actually illegal here in the states.
AU23_Admin 14 Posted August 30, 2012 I implore Vilayer to hire more team members. It's quite apparent that Casey is handling the majority of the tickets, and no offence to him, but I think he may be a little overwhelmed by the amount of support needed. illogitech 0 Posted August 31, 2012 ViLayer support is horrible. I have not been able to log into the control panel from day one and they keep closing and killing the tickets. I wouldn't recommend them at all.
S_poon 69 Posted September 6, 2012 ViLayer support is horrible. I have not been able to log into the control panel from day one and they keep closing and killing the tickets.I wouldn't recommend them at all.Vilayer support is INCREDIBLE. I don't know any other server hosts that will sit down and talk to you themselves. I've gotten to talk to Lee over voice SEVERAL times.Their servers are stable and virtually Lag free. The problems that do arise are dealt with relatively quickly, and at least for me have been communicated efficiently. And on top of all of this he is working on fixing what the DayZ Dev's broke. Tents and Vehicles have been working, load times are near instantaneous, my server is full every night.1.7.2.6 as far as the official hive is concerned for me is too little too late. BOTH US 450 and US 2740 are going down at the end of the month as I am no longer paying for servers I can't properly admin.Run with a AS50 TWS on my server and get caught you get warned, then banned. I have played with the weapon myself, 900m shots through the fog when another regular AS50 cant even see past the 600 mark, nothing even close to fair about that. Ghosting and get caught? Banned. That shit is not cool. But this isn't the point of the thread. The point is that I am VERY happy with Vilayer, I am seriously considering upgrading from a managed DayZPackage server to a dedicated box so I can run a Lingor and Chernarus, and a Takistan when they have it ready to go. bambak@live.co.uk 4 Posted September 7, 2012 Vilayer has given me the worst, most unpleasant customer experience I've ever come across in my 24 years. My time with them is coming to an end, from the server shutting down whenever it feels like to the ping spiking to 200~ and booting me off (despite several attempts to get them to change the max ping). Even once when I asked them to do something I got a response along the lines of: "It isn't our problem" I immediately threatened to leave, after that I got the "Oh yeah we see the problem now!" bullshit. They lied to me in the first instance saying my server would be in a datacentre in London, when in actual fact it is a datacentre in Luxembourg.DO NOT GO WITH THIS GANG OF COWBOYS THEY ARE A SHAMBLES AND THEIR CUSTOMER "SERVICE" TEAM ARE VERGING ON THE BIZARRE.QuoteMultiQuoteEdit

I can't fix that. If you can't read the knowledge base articles to set the max ping properly that is not our problem. treshold82 28 Posted September 7, 2012 I had some preassumptions about Vilayer by reading forum threads here but after 1 month having our team's server there, there haven't been any issues. So far so good...
echosyp 56 Posted September 7, 2012 Never had any problems with Vilayer at all. Their timezone changer worked great for me on the normal dayz hive and works like a charm on the vilayer dayz package.
Gogster (DayZ) 626 Posted September 7, 2012 Don't Vilayer have forums?
S_poon 69 Posted September 7, 2012 Don't Vilayer have forums?Actually strangely they don't, they are however active on their teamspeak, and will talk to you there if you have problems. I have nothing but good things to say.
