james_bartleby 0 Posted June 11, 2012 Hi, first post here:Can we have a menu like the one we have for entering into a vehicle in the front doors of the houses in which we cannot enter?I think it would be great for immersion if we could stay safe and sound inside these houses. If this idea worked, we could have a system in which you need to be inside of one of these empty houses in order to save your character. This would solve the Dc problem, but would be a major fuck when servers reboot or you lose connection (Can you think of a solution for this?)To save your character in the woods you would need a tent or a sleeping sack, which would need to be much more common. It may sound a bit hardcore. You could also have some sort of an overwatch mode in which you automatically shoot to anyone who tries to enter in the house (Not sure of how it could work)Also.. there is the problem of jumping to another server and spawning in the same house to a different survivor. Deuzerre 64 Posted June 11, 2012 I thought the OP meant the houses were "safe neutral areas" while tents would be "dangerous areas".Going in a closed house to disconnect safely.Going in a tent to disconnect with a chance for your char to catch a cold, things like that;If the disconnect isn't in a "safe" area, then there could be very bad events.If it is as I describe: Signed. Reaper (DayZ) 2 Posted June 11, 2012 It is definitely an interesting concept, if all the potential flaws could be figured out then I think it'd be a nice thing to have on hardcore/vet servers.I think the idea of being able to be robbed would be cool, possibly have it so the player has to pick a lock or something to enter. I think being killed is a bit harsh but maybe the cold idea above could be factored in.Houses = able to have locks, no colds, however not portable and more likely to be foundTents = Portable, no locks, able to catch cold (player loses blood slowly til say 6000 blood and perhaps vision/movement impediments), hard to find when hid right. A Man Named GOB 1 Posted June 13, 2012 I dont think I would want to be forced to save in front of a house whether its in a city or a town or all alone on the side of the road. I DC prone under a tree as often as I possibly can. I am all for preventing random DCing but I feel this kind of gets into the territory of telling a player how to play.
