Cool story, we need more sarcastic threads like this, they are so useful.

/sarcasm

Actually we do, because behind the sarcasm it actually shows that the OP has common sense.

I don't believe people believe that he owes them something, they're just asking for some consideration and communication regarding the latest patch. It's good to see that there has been word that the latest patch will arrive after the 6th of September, however vague that is.

Actually I've seen a number of people say that Rocket owes them or has a responsibility to this mod. People think that just because they bought ARMA2 to play DayZ, Rocket is required to fix everything in a timely fashion, just like one would were they a developer for a regular title that people actually paid for. People also think that because they bought the the game specifically for the mod, they bought DayZ, which is not how things work, since the mod wasn't designed to sell copies of ARMA2.

Common sense. Really?

Making a useless thread is common sense? I mean, this thread has no point other than to address something we all know. The few idiots who say they bought DayZ aren't going to read this.

You act as if this is some normal mod. It has one million plus players. Since they are making a standalone DayZ, you do want to show responsibility in the standalone's alpha, which this is. It seems as though DayZ is almost abandoned. It used to be updated every week, with new mechanics and quick bug fixes. Sure he does one-lined updates on Twitter, but that's not enough when you have a million plus people waiting on you.

Anyone that actually thinks Rocket OWES them something is an idiot, but I can understand that people want this game to be great, and the bugs do hold it back, and while Rocket doesn't owe me or anyone anything personally, I want to see this game improve and improve in any and every way possible.

I think people are more irked by the assurances that the mod will continue to be developed alongside the standalone, despite things like the artifacting bug and spawning all over the place still not being fixed.

The fanboys are going to need a new chant once the standalone does come out though, once DayZ is a paid for product they're entitled to some support, at least.

A mod being popular, doesn't suddenly make it a game that people bought. It's still just a mod. Also, this isn't the standalone's Alpha, it's an Alpha mod. Once the standalone releases, it'll probably be in Alpha, then move into Beta, and then release, where it'll continue to be updated as time goes on.

Of which they might not get fixed, because this is a mod and it's constantly battling against the base game to work a certain way. I agree that once standalone comes out, that will need will more consistent updates and support, but that is because it's an actual product someone bought and comes with that. There is no guarantee of support for the mod, other than what Rocket feels like doing with it, because it's just a free mod.

The dreamers and romantics may think otherwise but It would be unwise to expect any more communication/support for the stand alone than this community of over 1 million is receiving right now. Rocket is as Rocket does. And this is coming from a fanboy. Lower your expectations people and we'll all be happy!

Why would you think that? The only reason the mod isn't getting supported as much right now, is due to them working on the standalone. People complained about not having enough houses to explore in the map, they already fixed that with the standalone, but it's not something they can show, since the standalone isn't available yet. The majority of scripting will be done away with in the standalone, a big problem people have now, but they can't show that progress, cause it's not released. There's only so much they can do right now with the mod, which is mostly just test features, and hope they don't break everything.
