Sheldon (DayZ) 0 Posted June 11, 2012 Just a quick question, running solo how long does it generally take to make it from Chernogorsk to Stary Sobor? I've never done it before and need to make some time for the journey!

jajunior 1 Posted June 11, 2012 stary is better than coast cities?
Sheldon (DayZ) 0 Posted June 11, 2012 Sounds good to me! Thanks for the speedy response guys.@jajuniorAs far as I understand it yields far higher tier (military-grade) equipment at a larger risk, too.No risk, no reward!
Alexey Zemanov 6 Posted June 11, 2012 15-20 Hours we're looking at?minutes mate. minutes.[EDIT]Wow' date=' this is an answer-fest.[/EDIT']
Wüstenfuchs (DayZ) 105 Posted June 11, 2012 stary is better than coast cities?Stary is more dangerous than coastal cities. While you will meet a lot of random killers in Electro, in Stary (as well as NW airfield, NE airfield and Berezino) you will meet organized bandits with very good equipment. wasrad 42 Posted June 11, 2012 it takes about 3:25 to run across 1km on flat terrain
ultimateburger 0 Posted June 11, 2012 Yep. In the southern cities, you're dealing with less-well-equipped players, and a lot of newer players. Up in the North/Northwest, you're much more likely to encounter active player hunters.
terex 322 Posted June 11, 2012 Stary is definitely worth the run, just be cautious for bandits and specially snipers there.
Bill Murray 5 Posted June 11, 2012 It is about 5 kilometers away as the crow flies, so 15 minutes at a full run would be the fastest. I'd say about a half hour is normal depending on exactly how you go about getting there.
ultimateburger 0 Posted June 11, 2012 In DayZ, do you really go anywhere without interruption? Hey look, lemme check that barn…hey look, I'll just go loot that church…hey look a deer stand…hey look a helicopter crash…hey look another player…OH GOD HE ISN'T FRIENDLY, RUNRUNAWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now where did I wind up…(check map, check compass, check sun, look for road)...
Hell-In-A-Handbasket 8 Posted June 11, 2012 If you have a map/compas it's flat out quick. As i have gotten turned around a number of times and ended up back at the coast somehow. With no map and compas it's longer, but easiest way to get there is head away from Electro/Cherno till you hit the main lines, then follow them all the way, you'll hit a town leading into secondary power lines, follow them till they enter wooded area flanked either side by deer stands, they go between Stary and Novoy.Takes about 35-40 min
CaptainRayne 1 Posted June 11, 2012 I've made that run so many times I do without a map or compass in the middle of the night and the fastest I can make it using a safe route is twenty minutes.
SupWithThat 2 Posted June 11, 2012 I think I can do this trip with my eyes closed now.15 minutes tops I'd say.
hishnik 23 Posted June 11, 2012 I timed the running a while back. It takes you about 20 seconds to cross 100m running straight on flat surface. Which puts you at about a minute per every 300m. So look at the distance, divide by 300 result is number of minutes will take you to run it, assuming you are running straight line, and on flat surface. zippy32 1 Posted June 11, 2012 Aye,About 20-30 mins I'd say. It's got a supermarket and some open houses plus a couple of barns, plus that very tempting military campsite to the north. If you take out the military camp, it's got less lootable buildings than Vybor though. And as already noted, that military tent area is a bloody deathtrap. I got nailed there this morning, losing my GPS/AKM/Ghillie combo. It's quite open if you approach from the east or west, so snipers love it there. Plus with about a dozen tents to search in the open (and Zeds everywhere) if you get spotted, you get get slotted.
Hell-In-A-Handbasket 8 Posted June 11, 2012 Surprisingly I've never seen other people there, I have seen it cleared a lot though, might be the server I usually play as I've left a fully stocked tent by the tents other side of the broken truck and it still stocked over a day later. But knowing since I've spoken up about that fact, I'll get capped when I log back in and do another run. Sheldon (DayZ) 0 Posted June 11, 2012 What kind of loot can one expect from an average Stary run? Seeming pretty good to try out tomorrow!
Zilla (DayZ) 1 Posted June 11, 2012 I ran it in about 12 minutes before. sprinted the entire way.
ultimateburger 0 Posted June 11, 2012 Hard to say what would be a typical Stary run. When I went through just the tents, I came across an AKM + a bunch of ammo.
landshark 1 Posted June 11, 2012 Coincidentally, I just made this trip for the first time (Elektro to Stary). The only thing I found in Stary was an enfield with ammo, nothing else. I wasn't sure what to expect going there. Is there a specific building I should be looting in Stary?I left Stary and ran across another town. I had to shoot a zombie with the enfield, but nothing else got alerted. But then, a 2nd time I had to shoot the enfield and the entire freaking town came after me (over 30 zombies). Is the enfield bugged or what? I had two completely different reactions from the zombies when shooting it. It seems its either no zombies hear it or ALL the zombies hear it. ultimateburger 0 Posted June 11, 2012 You expect zombies to be predictable? Last night for a laugh, I got a huge zombie horde chasing me through Elektro...then I ran past another survivor who was also being chased...ALL my zombies went after him, leaving me in the clear. It was hilarious. I apologized to him in chat after I saw him die.
