why give admins of servers the ultimate power ?

Recommended Posts

OP is concerned about standalone that it will allow private servers where admins (part of the group renting the server) will exploit their privileges resulting in them dominating other players.

One doesn't have to be a genius to know that it will happen. The only solution would be to resign from private servers and have only officiall ones provided.

If he pays for the server he should be able to do what the hell he likes except hacking.. dont like it then find another server.

lets face it what is the real point of owning your own server. you might as well just join a public one

and im not saying i agree with all the stuff that some admins do. but if its there server then its up too them and i go elsewhere

OP is incorrect if he refers to vanilla DayZ.

If he is referring to private hive servers, then the admin has full access to the database and can do what he pleases.

this is the correct answer. funny how many people have no clue yet still write in this thread here..

Ok who necrod!

Not really true. The tools an admin have are hacks in themselves. They are not there as a necessity, but to address the fact that most admins are lazy fucks. Everything that an admin can find with these tools as proof that a player is hacking can be found in the logs. The tools are also inconclusive. They can also use this information to get the player permanently banned by BattleEye by uploading those logs. But most admins won't do that. Most of the problems I have had with hacks in recent times have been from the admins themselves, who are cheating worse than hackers. If standalone wasn't keeping with the current model of server hosting that would be fine, but afaik they are and this is pretty much a nail in the coffin for the game. They got overrun by cheaters and they gave up.

I'll tell you why admins need these powers, it is quite simple really.

There are these peoplethey are usually very lowly skilled and quite often have minute sized sexual organs. These people have very low self esteem and to try and boost that they feel the need to ruin other people's hard work and fun. These people will probably not succeed in anything in life because they feel the need to cheat to make it to the top. These people are the scum of the gaming community, they are low lifes, they have shitty lives, they are incredibly immature, these people are hackers

I think that now that they have more people, they will be able to sort out admin abuse reports faster and blacklist them like how it is supposed to work.

Ok you say they cant do anything but ive been having a read of some of the ways they can do it, not spawning but finding information, apparently if you host the server you can use a program to decode the scripts and pinpoint tents, viehcles etc as your not logged into game when ur doing, ur just accessing information stored in the server apparently this is how they can locate things. Spawning things is a different matter. I never once said admins are given that ability, but there are ways for admins to take advantage. I dont want to slate, or troll admins, there are alot of you good ones out there who play by the rules

There are two ways of approaching this: First off, whoever pays, gets to decide the rules. As others have stated, you are in no way bound to a single server, and I would leave if I found admin abuse. However, that is not the real argument why admins should be able to know everything.

The proper argument is policing. I used to admin a FPS game server. Fulfilling that function, I spend quite a lot of time speccing other players, on both teams, even if I was playing in one of the teams. I did this to check for cheating, mostly wallhacks and aimbots. In DayZ, admins should be able to go into admin mode and spectate players suspected of teleports, radar, aimbots and all that kind of stuff. It also means that the admins ought to refrain from raiding camps, as they will gather intel while performing admin functions, but it ould definitly make me feel safer if I knew admins where watching. The admins have to be able to take responsibility for their server, making it a comfortable place to play, whatever they decide that is.

Personally, I play private hive, at 1hw.co.uk, and I trust the admins completely. If I did not, I would have found somewhere else to play.
