brizz 7 Posted August 28, 2012 maybe i missed it, did the devs mention anything regarding cheaters in the stand-alone ? the current game in the alpha is unplayable... every, and i mean EVERY server i play on, i meet one or several cheater who kills me or my group. this happens sometimes after some minutes, or after some hours, but in every case we get killed by cheaters. they instakill us, teleport to us and use godmode so we cant kill them, or use other shitty hacks. so, will the blatant hacking/scripting be stopped ? i heard that it wont be possible to script in weapons and vehicles, but what about the regular cheats like teleport and godmode ? are the devs even aware of the horrible state of this game ? are they going to implement effective ant-hack tools ? also i meet cheaters on private hives.. doesnt make a difference... battleeye is a useless piece of software... are they going to abandon it for a better tool ? questions over questions ( and some crying i know ) :D

ironman Tetsuo 181 Posted August 28, 2012 DayZ mod is a script running on top of Arma II, to stop cheaters adding their own scripts you'd have to block the very things that make the mod playable. They could change a lot of things to stop the hackers but it would probably ruin the many other mods that also use Arma as a base.DayZ the game will be built from the inside out in its own custom engine, it will naturally be better equiped to fend off external scripters but not 100%. It's like those bottles of bleach that can only claim to kill 99.9% of germs because no matter what you do someone will find a way...
tsandrey 379 Posted August 28, 2012 Battleye is very effective, but Arma in it's current state is just completely open. Even in standalone, hacking won't be 100% gone, but hopefully there won't be anymore mass kills, nukes, teleports, Thunderdoms and etc.
GrumpyFragger 67 Posted August 28, 2012 All of the cheating aside, as long as characters/gear is not bound to a server ( as long as the server is up ofc ) I see Server hopping to get all shineys in one day as the bigger problem in the Standalone.
Sticker704 121 Posted August 28, 2012 No Rocket is doing absolutely nothing in the standalone to combat cheaters.
