new to dayz

Hey guys im kinda new to dayz and im not sure how to drink eat and heal because I thought when you press f it would change to drinks and bandages etc but it only gos to flare.

Go into your inventory and right click on the item, and it should say: eat, drink, bandage self etc..

Press g and that will bring up your inventory screen, then right click on the can of food or can of soft drink and you should be able to consume it.

The F key will switch fire modes on weapons with more than one. For example, you can switch a FN FAL from Semi-auto to Burst fire. After fire modes, it will bring up items that you can throw. Grenades, flares, chem-lights, cans & bottles. As Womb Raider said, G will open and close your Inventory. Also, for speed's sake when looting, you can double-click on items to put them into your inventory. You can double click on your bag in the inventory to open or close it, too.

I would also recommend that you do yourself the favor of running through the Arma II tutorial. The control scheme is more complex than a lot of typical wasd type games and once you get over that hurdle the intuitive nature of the rest of the game controls seems to make more sense.

There may be many "trolls" on the forum but, never hesitate to ask.

There are no silly questions, we were all new once.

It's nice to see folk help out and not grief a newcommer.

DAYZ/Arma are not an easy games to get to grips with compares to many in the mainstream.

Just remember, this is an early testphase of the mod so there will be many issues, ie loss of gear, broken limbs for no reason, backpacks eating weapons.

Enjoy what you have and give constructive feedback.
