Yes, Ace and Acre.

I've been playing DayZ for a long time now and it truly is an amazing experience.

I think however that with the addition of Ace (or parts of it) and acre this would be even better.

Let me explain:

In Ace you have a backpack system which is countless times better than the one we currently have. There is carrying weight and CC (how much space there is in you pack). This along with Ace's stamina system is great, 'cause the more weight you've got on you, the faster you run out of breath and are forced to rest. This would have you make choices on what to take with you; Do i take that extra gun in my pack and sacrifice running distance? or do i leave it and have more mobility?

Then there is ace's interaction menus: In ace there is a key (right windows key by standard, but can be re-mapped) which allows you to interact with yourself in every way. You can treat your wounds, change ammo-type, even swap barrels for an MG (ofcourse these are things that would have to be added for them to work).

There is also a menu for other players like this, this will allow you to examine the other player to see what wounds need to be treated, enter their inventory, take their dogtags if they died etc.

Now Acre, Acre is a radio-system that works in conjunction with Team Speak 3. Some clever fellow made this mod and i have no clue on how it works, but it works.

Basically what it does is add radios to the game; There is short and long range radios, ones you carry on your back and ones you carry in you utilities. These radios are tied to channels, which you can choose yourself. There is also a talking option, players in your general vacinity can hear you speak. You'd be able to hear other people talk when they are close to you, or tap in to other peoples radio channels.

Obviously these radios would have to be very rare, the shortrange as rare as an alice or a coyote pack, and the longrange as rare as a m249 or m107.

Tldr; Add ace for the Backpack and stamina systems, and Acre for all the options this would add regarding radios and talking.Discuss:D

Also, here's the inventory system explained.

A lot of the features in ACE would be immense in this mod. Hope some of them make it. Regarding ACRE though, this would require the use of TS3. Many people do not have access to a TS3 server however.

Well yeah, but TS3 is a free program, and regarding the Acces to a server, There are already several DayZ servers up and running.

But Rocket could launch an official DayZ server in which all the DayZ servers are listed.

Use the search function. XenoACE already stated in a thread he has no intention of including ACE into DayZ.

Use the search function. XenoACE already stated in a thread he has no intention of including ACE into DayZ.

Just a note' date=' I tried searching for "ACE" both globally and just in the suggestions forum and there are a ton of totally irrelevant results due words like "fACE", "plACE" etc matching.

Anyway, I haven't actually personally tried these (ACE, ACRE) but they really sound like they immensely add to the realism and UX (User eXperience: usually meants user interfaces, workflows etc)

OTOH the developers have their hands full without trying to integrate a completely different mods' code bases with theirs (or re-implementing the features from scratch [and then fixing all the bugs from said implementations']), it would just be nice to get confirmation that this will probably be done (or not done) in the future.

So +1 for this.

Anyway here is another, shorter thread that I did manage to find: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=23454&highlight=ACE

Edit: Found the XenoACE post: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=24005&pid=216232#pid216232 A shame they seem to really dislike the idea for some reason, so re-implementing those features that we want in DayZ from scratch is the way to go (some also commented that ACE is "too realistic" for DayZ which sound a bit weird to me).

I don't think it's in rocket's interest to rely on 3rd party mods, ACRE is difficult to configure for the average joe and ACE is huge, bloated and takex a good while to load if you do not use an SSD drive.

this will be extremely great, even ARCE only, if Xeno don't want ACE integrated with dayz.

ACE-Yes!

ACRE-Noooooo please noooooo! That mod never worked for me :( I can't stand it "sob."

Oh yeah, don't use 6updater to install ACE or ACRE - it will screw your game AND your computer AND you over.

if you didn't manage to get acre working and you never tried it this is not a smart thing to be against it.

to run it proper get ts3 3.0.7 i guess, throw plugin into plugin directory, activate plugin, and configure it a little bit (volume) so you will hear beeps n shit.

I agree

But ACRE should be ingame not attached to ts3

I assume the argument that you would need TS3 as well isn't a valid argument against it in your opinion? Many people prefer Ventrillo, Mumble etc.

Moreover I have tried installing ACRE once and essentially it was a hassle to get everything running, then some patch for ARMA 2 came out, it didn't work, then TS3 got updated and it didn't work, it was a major pain. This was a while ago, maybe its better now.

omg' date=' it'd be instant rage quit for the dumb pubs

not quite, first off there are numerous channels so you could simply switch channels with your mates. If the radios are rare then not many people would have them and you would want to defend your radio well..aka hiding and since the most common radios operate in a 700 meter circle max if you heard xmting you would know there was another play in the area.

constant transmitting would give a very easy way to track your position since ACRE includes radio fall off so simply using this one could locate a survivor who was constantly Xmting.

I think this would add a huge amount of realism to the game

In any case either something is implemented to the mod itself or leave it be, From what I remember it is not only dependent on TS3 but also needs some other mods (probably CBA) to work.

Reading "works like a clockwork" related to anything part of ARMA II made me chuckle, thanks :-D

I already tried all of the steps 7 times over but I always get a message saying something is wrong with the jayarma2lib file. And I agree with BL1P, I think if ACRE did not need TS3 it would be more streamlined and less of a hassle.
