New set of bans

Why hello there.

We have a new set of cheater bans for everyone and might I say what an outcome this list has became. Over a dozen cheaters detected and banned.

Let's just say that I'm back at it and i'm on full force to rid these people from DayZ.

I am also working on new ways to detect cheaters, ban them and also working on a global ban list where server hosts can look up bans, cross check them, see what current strings of code that have been picked up by DayZ and for hosts to apply cheater bans as well, stay tuned!

on an unrelated note can we keep the ban descriptions a bit more "professional". Like most arma communites we tend to favour maturity and seeing people banned with things like "u mad bro" is quite frankly retarded. I know it's easy to just change the text but it's a pain in the arse.

Till I get the new system I will require the playerid, GUID, IP, name and script detection.

Also if Joopig becomes a problem for to many hosts there is a solution.

Do a range block through your servers firewall:

92.12.0.0 - 92.12.255.255

Block it via inbound connections and drop it for all ports (any).

He won't be an issue. Downside that may occur is people in that range won't be able to get in your server but you can always have people contact you to verify their identity and can always add a separate allow list for their specific IP.

Dunno if anyone is interested in seeing if they can spot a bad guy in the log I've linked with this post. I just don't physically have the time to look through it at the moment due to work, and even when I do I'm still not 100% sure what I'm looking for.

Basically, it's one of the scripts.log from one of our servers where people got mass killed early this morning. Maybe if one of you has 5 minutes to spare you might manage to find another one of these idiots.

Is he bypassing battleye or just jumping onto heaps of servers? I know the playerID is easy to spoof but the GUID can't be done yet from what I know.

Keep in mind that 99% of aussie and nz users have dynamic IPs so it's pretty much useless banning it.

GUID can be spoofed but you will be kicked within 15 minutes for an invalid GUID, 15 minutes.. I know horse crap....

It's truly best to ban them via ips.

V2 Signatures are enabled. What "more" are you talking about? What you as DayZ staff provide us as configuration files' date=' I'm using.

I don't understand. Why do they only effect us specifically then?

Well I say V2 signatures because at one point in time Addons such as Alexanderpack and GerkMenu were used on your server which is old stuff that was built upon for bypass of V1 signature checking and can't be used on V2 signature servers.

Copy + Pasted straight from our server.cfg. Those are the same set in the config files we're given as hosters so honestly, i'm at a loss. If my config somewhere is at fault, I'll make whatever changes needed immediately, but I don't see how that's the case.

that "hacks" bit is part of the script :p

Something is seriously messed up if you are getting those kind of hacks on your server. Make sure you are running and edditing out of the correct profile for one.

The profiles are set right. It's a copy and paste job. If they weren't set properly the server wouldn't name properly for starters. Everything thing in the BattlEye area seems good as well. I'm not sure what the issue could be. Lets assume the profiles are all set up right, and the config is following with the normal cfgdayz config stuff, what else is there?

I have one to add from today. This user was teleporting to try and kill me with an AS50 while I was driving in the URAL. He would pop up in the road, take a few shots before I reached him and I tried to hit him once, he got out of the way. He teleported a little further down the road, took more shots, but this time I managed to run him over and find out who he was by the "Venctum has died" message. Then immediately banned him using BE Rcon.
