mufffiinzzz 0 Posted August 26, 2012 Hey, last night (about 12 hours ago) i received a global ban for just walking around in a town, i have no idea what i did wrong, i'm not appealing for the ban to be lifted as i know DayZ staff cant do do anything about this i was just wondering since it was relevant to this area of the forums, if anyone can help me and tell me what to do, if there is anything i can do, to get the ban lifted by battleye since i would really like to start playing again :/ Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

What you were doing during the time of the ban almost never relates to what you were banned for.BattlEye usually employs the "Honey Pot" approach to bans. Once a hack is found out by BattlEye's developers, they don't instantly ban the 4-5 people running it. They sit in wait and let 10, 20, 50, or 100+ people dog pile in on the hack and let it become popular. Once everyone has the false sense of security, they slam the door and do a mass ban wave.It's certainly more effective.I'm not saying you hacked (we've seen the one "Whoops, sorry" ban wave from BattlEye and then the last BattlEye update causing an erroneous global ban/kick message to occur.) My point is simply that what you were doing when you experienced the global ban almost guaranteed has nothing to do with what caused the ban. Read their FAQ CAREFULLY and if you really really really believe you have not been silly or reckless then send them an email.False positives are rare.
