Iezza 108 Posted August 26, 2012 (edited) Alright, let's set some Groundwork:I'm 15. Recently aced first half of my gces And do not understand one thing; an age limit to clans/ groups. Why not?My voice is not highI'm mature enough to play the gameUnlike most people my age I do not want the thrill of the kill I want to surviveAnd have a fairly exstensive shooter record. Especially mil-Sims. Just wanna know why the age restrictions on certain groups. Thanks =] Edited August 26, 2012 by Iezza
mac 80 Posted August 26, 2012 Because the vast majority of the youth are extremely immature. Someone trying to achieve a mature experience does not want to play with anyone immature, young or old. Also, in my experience all age limits have an exception where if someone shows enough maturity they will be accepted into the unit. Just get on teamspeak/skype/whatever with them and let them know who you are.
Bender Rodriguz 8 Posted August 26, 2012 Adults don't want to play with kids is why. You probably won't understand untill you're an adult. If you want to test this theory out lie about your age and see if the clan figures it out.

enforcer1975 1111 Posted August 26, 2012 I guess they just don't want the trouble that comes with it when they let someone play a game he isn't supposed to play. Others want 18+ members because they want mature player but age doesn't show how mature one is...sometimes. Having underaged players in your clan / group seems awkward to older gamers. And what milsims did you play? I can't recall having heard of any other "milsims" than OFP ( not Dragon Rising ) / ArmA. Col. Kurtz (DayZ) 91 Posted August 26, 2012 Statistically, younger players are not as mature. So most clans would rather post 21+ than sift through a lot of young players to find the 1 mature guy in the group.

NoRegrets 495 Posted August 26, 2012 Calm down ... if you dont understand why these age restrictions exist you are too young and its good these restrictions exist ...
Iezza 108 Posted August 26, 2012 I do understand why these exist. But maybe they should take an alternate stance, maybe a more exstensive trial for younger members. I mean, two of those problems are gone within mere minutes of gameplay.
KArowd 40 Posted August 26, 2012 How bout you go outside and do kid things?Dont waste your time playing computer games until your older.Jus sayin..
NoRegrets 495 Posted August 26, 2012 Why do you want to join a clan with an age restriction so badly? ... Who gives a fuck about a DayZ Clan anyways ... play with your friends ... if you dont have friends ... search for people to play with on your own ... open up a thread and talk to people ... Thasik 79 Posted August 26, 2012 Wow bunch of assholes here. I would bet most of the people saying "You'll understand" are under-age themselves. To OP, it is just easier. Will there be some mature kids? Yes. Most clans find it easier to just weed out all of the immature ones with an age limitation. If it means that much to you, lie and see if you can get away with it. If you are as you say, you will.
Iezza 108 Posted August 26, 2012 Maybe I phrased my question wrongly . What I mainly want to see is peoples opinions on age restrictions and young people playing DayZ in general =]
angelomnipotent 28 Posted August 26, 2012 (edited) At the age of 15 I thought I was mature, and I was in comparison to other 15 year olds; but comparing to an adult it still wasn't the case. By the time I hit 18, I looked back at 15 and saw how immature some of my actions were (albeit not all of them.) At 21 I saw how immature some of my actions were at 18. Closer to 30, I still look back to some of the things I did at 25 and realise how immature they were. It's all relative.I don't doubt that you're more mature than the average 15 year old, but compared to the average 18 year old, you're still a kid.Edit: Oh and not being able to structure the title of your thread in a correct grammatical fashion also doesn't help. tsugan 20 Posted August 26, 2012 I have nothing against 15-year-olds, it's just that, in a clan that's primarily between the ages of 18-25, most of the members will find you annoying and difficult to deal with. Your sense of humor isn't the same, so something funny to you is mind-numbingly annoying to them. Also your age group is pegged as the most likely to cheat/hack/play unfairly, because its true.I had the same issues when I was 15, if you don't want to screw things up with a clan due to your age being an issue, go into whatever voice program they use and say you don't have a mic, even if you do, let them get used to you in there and typing stuff, and once you feel you've made the most positive impression possible turn on your mic. Worked for me, and is the most sure-fire way to let people get to know you before stereotypes get in the way of having fun.Or you could just wait until you're 18 and come play :P . Col. Kurtz (DayZ) 91 Posted August 26, 2012 From personal experience, the few I have let join me and my group have a temper issue. When we die we just say "this sucks" then we re-spawn, and get back to it. They on the other hand flip.

TheMachine 803 Posted August 26, 2012 Nah, I dont get angry at hardly anything.Yes, you do.If you don't then there's something wrong with you, that's what a 15 year old is meant to be like. You can't help it.Just lie about your age if you want in a clan, if you aren't a total douche they likely won't notice.
