visibility vs terrain detail

as u know visibility is the distance view in game i had it set up to 10000 just coz i can...

however, noticed that terrain detail setting goes from value "very high" to "high" when u pass from 6499 visibility to 6500 and further...

the question is which value "terrain detail" or "visibility" its better to keep as high as possible if ur machine can move it?

Good Q... , i have everything on high except AA . I usually have view dist at 3000 but recently upped it to 10000 and it plays fine still but on a lot of servers i do not notice any further viewing as i think it goes by how the admin of said server has it setup on there end tbh so mostly having it at 10000 on my pc is a wasted resource i feel so im interested in seeing an answer to youre Question also shilu.

I think the visibility on DayZ is capped at just over 1km or so (I may be wrong) to help with lag. Terrain detail just adds more grass and so on and generally makes the game look better.

Yes, visability is locked by the server in DayZ to about 1000m. Terrain detail is also locked. If you where able to adust terrain detail, you could turn it so low that you would have no grass. In that case no one would ever play with grass on.

If your playing Arma, I guess it's down to what your doing. Eg if you where in a plane you wont really care if Terrain detail is lower as you are so high up you couldnt tell the difference. But, if you where on foot, 6500 view distance would be loads so you could have higher terrain detail then.

The difference between High and Very High Terrain detail is minimal.

More like so people with better computers don't have the upper hand with sniper rifles.
