I played a game many many years ago called Tradewars 2002 - it was a turn based game where you had to do hours of endless tasks where Scripts made things easy. A war broke out between 2 types of players: Scripters and non-scripters. For example you'd get 500 turns a day, a scripter could run a script to "Buy and sell" between 2 ports for say.. 50 turns - it turned an hour into 5 minute deal.

Scripts that are legit to improve the game, I would Vote for - scripts that alter, edit and cheat in a game - I go against.

Difference was in my old game, we basically turned 2-3 hours into 5-10 minutes - HOWEVER people started altering the scripts to attack players - fire one missile then get out, eventually the scripting got out of hand and many servers were either FOR or against it.

I was for the scripts, at the time I was in college I had no time to diddle around hours on hours for little fun - I enjoyed doing my 500 turns in 20 minutes :)

Wow sorry for wanting to vent. Can't believe what jerks some people are. But I hope it made you all feel better to jump on me for wanting to express myself. Fyi, i'm not a technical computer person. I enjoy games, point and shoot, thats about as technical as I get. Lol at me if you like but no I didn't know the difference between hacking and scripting. My purpose here was to start a conversation with people who were equally as frustrated as I am by the level of "scripting" going on. Instead I get chewed out as though I'm one of these ppl abusing the system. Patrick you probably put it the best, the experience has been ruined. I guess that was the point I wanted to get across. And yes I could have search another thread and added to that, but I wanted people to engage in a conversation with me, not add to another. I wasn't hurting anybody by posting but a few of you just can't pass up the opportunity to attack someone, so I hope you feel better for your contribution. Have a nice day!

I hate fourm nazi, but yeah I know how you feel. A simple blah blah blah was killed by blah blah blah, would go a long way. It would really help server admins, but our hands are tied for fear of getting blacklisted. It's just frustrating that stupid kids kill good games.
