The standalone's direction.

Recommended Posts

With the upcoming release of the standalone, what direction does everyone think it will head? For example, will it head towards the MMO style WarZ apparently promises? Or, rather, as the mod stands now?

I think and hope it will head in a similar trajectory to what it is now, just more refined, complex, and larger.

There are too many MMOs that are just cookie cutter copies of the same crap. Fallen Earth was interesting to play, but still fell into the same "skill and grind, craft and find" of every other MMO.

WarZ .... UGH. it's one of those Warrock / Combat Arms style cheese-fest shoot-em ups. not even on the same planet as DayZ.

The Mod has so many players because it's so different and people needed something truly unique. I hope it grows ever more distant from anything else that's currently out there. It's not development of a new game, it's the development of a new genre of game that's exciting here.

The games needs a lot more depth.

The mod is, at its core, ignoring the hackers, bugs etc, actually quite dull.

Huge fixes need to be done in every area. Zeds: In every way. Spawn system: Needs rebuilding. Netcode: Total rebuild. etc etc.

Add in that the PvP isn't action packed enough to even make it a good PvP game, Construction ideas that sounds out of step with the mods original ethos (instanced bunkers are instant 'safe zones' lets be fair) and well, they isn't much more to say because there isn't enough content to criticize.

Think about it, I we hadn't had 6+ weeks of uber-hacker drama what would you have actually been doing in game? Building endless tent gardens?

Less hackers, more items, dynamic skins, different kinds of zombies, better team building features, more buildings will be enter-able, less high end military weapons, more civilian weapons, more skins, underground bases, some kind of instancing or other "end game" content.

uck warz.

I agree with this video 100%. This is the first time I seen this video as well. Either way, I'm looking more forward to what's it called, WarZ. It has a big backing and the funding, DayZ lacks funding and a brain (creator).

I agree with the rest of your post, even this quoted part but I'd like to reply in turn to it;

I'd have played as Ido now and had some good fire fights etc and tried out different self imposed play styles until the provided content felt played enough, stopped playing as much and awaited the new patch, after all, this is one part I can justify saying 'alpha'.
